Awesome week last week everyone! THANKS to all of you for the many different roles you played throughout the week… from the Tumalo Mountain fieldwork outing (our 1st “summit”), to National Principal’s Day (who knew there was such a thing!?) to keeping things smooth on campus even when I was pulled away a bunch and Michelle was out taking care of family! And of course… BETTER WORLD DAY! You are a great team to work with!
There were a lot of highlights on Friday… our students did a great job and you all helped coordinate some awesome projects!! - Monday – Mid morning coffee break at 9:30am in the common area! Ocean Rolls and Fancy Coffees.
- Wednesday – After school snacks to fuel the “March for Students”!
- Friday – After school… Realms MS and HS get together for any and all that can make it. Venue TBD (possibly upstairs at 10 Barrel… Roger and Dirk are buying the app’s and 1st rounds!

Boundless Farm Fieldwork – Wednesday
9:00am – 12:00pm Wednesday. After speaking with Paul and Michelle it makes sense to send these two on this trip – MH is excited about working a Grapes of Wrath tie in! So, we have put in for 1 sub to cover PT’s 2 social science classes and hen I am hoping that between RW, KLL, and GD we can cover Michelle’s two 9th gr Lit classes. Stay tuned for final details!
March For Students!
This is important!! You are not required to attend, obviously, however I do want to make sure you all have the time and space to attend and/or get ready beforehand. We DO have some topics that we could meet about prior to the march (say 1:00 – 1:45) but ONLY if you all want to. If you prefer to get March-ready (make signs etc.) between 12:40 and the march that is great too. Two topics I want to share/discuss with you are below. I will check with each of you on Tuesday and we can decide to NOT meet or meet, at your request! These topics could get pushed to Thursday.
Upcoming SIW Priorities & Topics:
- Urgent: Some of my office hrs students would like to try and earn an honors credit in one of their classes this term. I told them I would talk to you all about the possibility of an “honors project” they could complete between now and end of year
- Less Urgent: How are we doing for scheduled May 30th Presentation of Learning? Is it still realistic? Stick with the date or postpone until the following Tuesday (right before Intensives) OR even the Thursday evening AFTER Intensives before the last day of the year?
- Less Urgent: Intensives planning!

Keeping Things “Tight” (and joyful) As We Hit Spring:
Here are just a few reminders that are important as we head into Spring and students start to stretch their wings a little more!
- Take attendance every class!
- During class at least, please don’t send two buddies to the bathroom together, just 1 at a time (I know we can’t control this between classes, but we can at least control it during classes)
- Take attendance at the start of Pump & Stretch please (Jaden and a few others look to sneak into the wrong P&S) and at the start of Office Hrs. If you are missing someone from Office Hrs please let Jennifer or Roger know
- Earbuds and phones: they are allowed ONLY by direct permission and NEVER by default. Please use them SPARINGLY. If a student has earbuds or phone out without direct permission please ask them to trun it over to you for pick up at end of the day!
- Oh, and don’t forget to have some fun with kids…. build a little JOY and CELEBRATION into your classroom… relationships go a LONG way at this time of year! YEAH!!!!!
