NANCY’S NEW HRS AND SECURING CAMPUS
Nancy is shifting her hours to start VERY early in the AM and so we will no longer have her AFTER school.
This means that WE are now responsible for locking the building EVERY DAY!!!
Casa north door – BeckSSC west door – DelaneyTown Hall – all doors – IanEast Main building double doors – to remain locked all day. Exterior classroom doors – these are the responsibility of that classroom’s “owning teacher” (or sub!)Main front doors – KellyCabin – to remain locked all day. Missy responsible on Tuesdays. This MAY mean that certain doors get locked BEFORE everyone is out of the building at the end of the day. SO… carry your keys with you at the end of the day and if you unlock a door, RE-LOCK IT!!
DECISION MAKING FLOW AND COMMUNICATION!
STAFFING/SCHEDULING DECISIONS AND TWEAKS Including but not limited to fieldwork, duty changes, covering for each other etc.)I just want to clarify and remind our team that any changes to our “staffing” need to be approved by Lynda or Roger before taking affect!
There have been a couple of examples lately where teams of teachers have come up with thoughtful solutions to staffing challenges that may indeed serve students BETTER… andI am asking that before finalizing, these proposals are brought to Lynda/Roger for approval (or revision if neceessary)!
Examples:
- if we are making a shift or switch in fieldwork staffing to add, reduce or switch staff from the originally approved fieldwork proposal submitted by the f/w team and CC.
- if we are swapping out some teaching or supervision duties (beyond, “hey, can you cover my lunch duty today while I work with a kiddo”… which does NOT ned office approval!) for a period of time, or making some kind of schedule switch
STAFF LEAVING CAMPUS DURING WORK DAY:The general rule of thumb is that teachers are on campus from 8:15 – 4:15. That is the contract work day. If you need to run off campus (episodically) during your prep for something, no problem, please just let the office know. If we have an emergency while you are off campus, we need to know you have left!
This guideline applies equally regardless of WHAT PERIOD your prep is. If you have a prep at the start or end of day, and need to be off campus during your prep for some reason, please give the office a heads up. For more “regular” arrangements to be off campus during the normal work day, please see Roger. For example, if you would to see if it is possible to leave early or arrive late regularly on a certain day(s) of the week because of some extenuating circumstance (child care, coaching, etc.) please speak to Roger.
COMMUNICATION WITH THE OFFICE:It is almost impossible to “over communicate” with the office and really EASY for the office folks to find themselves out of the loop on all sorts of key information (whereabouts of staff, changes made to a student’s schedule, the whereabouts of a group of students, a new family situation etc.).
PLEASE feel communicate with the office team about anything you THINK they might need to know, including for sure anything to do with significant changes to student or staff “whereabouts” and schedules.
