Holiday Fun – Thanks Sunshine Committee!!
Huge thanks to the Sunshine COmmittee for organizing our Holiday Party last week – it was awesome to laugh, play and connect!








Winter Break Work Hours Offer!!
I am happy to timesheet some folks for any of the following school priorities if you are interested in working on one or more of these initiatives. If you are open to it… JUST EMAIL ME and we can coordinate hours etc.
PRIORITY – Bulletin boards and student work panels/displays (aka documentation panels). Will timesheet up to 4 hours for individual(s) or teams.
In preparation for our two upcoming Information Nights I would LOVE for every teacher to have one or more displays of student work somewhere in our hallways. In the EL Education world, these are often called documentation panels because they are more than just student work pinned to a board… they seek to TELL THE STORY of the project and often include:
- an eye-catching title
- the Learning Targets connected to the work, and/or rubrics or success criteria
- STUDENT WORK – often including evidence of revision (multiple drafts on display?)
- photos of students in action or doing the work
- student quotes and more!
PRIORITY – Moving In: (Will timesheet up to 6 hours for individual(s) or teams, depending)
As “The Hub” is now “open and ready for use” we have some moving to do! I have spoken with most, but maybe not all of those affected. If you are involved in any of the following moves and would like to spend some hours over the break getting set up, PLEASE EMAIL ME!
- Middle school office & staff room
- Middle school SSC & Kat’s office
- Woo’s classroom
- Learning Lab and shift to Woo’s “old room”
PRIORITY – Honors/AP (Will timesheet up to 4 hours)
We are motivated to offer more Honors (and AP) options for our students and I have talked with Anita and others about a system for compensating teachers who are willing to offer an Honors section in their core classes that will allow our most ready, motivated and capable to remain challenged and engaged!!
If you are interested in offering an Honors section (or “simul-teach” an regular and AP section) for trimester 2 or 3, I have some budget set aside to support your efforts. Again, just email me!

Thursday Jan 12th and Wednesday Jan 18th. Both start at 6:00 but we’ll likely need staff there by 5:30.
We will be recruiting and training both MS and HS ambassadors and Roger will get an agenda out to you all ASAP so you know what to expect!
A couple o fthings that EVERYONE can do to help, even if you are not attending are:
- clean up your room
- leave out some student work or something for people to look at as they wander through your room
- Here is who has signed up to help. If you are not on the list and would like to join, let me know asap. If you need to make a switch, you can let me know that too!

STAFF CREW… Leaning Into “Challenge By Choice”
ACTION: I’d love to invite us as staff to lean into our Crew Not Passengers motto – consider signing up to plan and lead a crew – RIGHT HERE! It includes options, preferences and topic ideas!
Last Monday, those of us who made it (it was a snowy morning!) participated in Staff Crew. I am excited and hopeful about Staff Crew as a positive force for building team, being heard, and supporting one another in our work as educators!

SIW’s COMING UP
We are going to do our best to dedicate as much SIW time as we can to pursuing our School Wide Academic Goals (SLGG’s in departments) and our School Wide Student Experience Goal. That said, we KNOW there will be things that get in the way of that…. including our FIRST SIW which we are dedicating to reviewing and tuning the use of our SSC’s and Learning Labs as well as an all important “look ahead” to 2nd trimester SLC’s which come MUCH EARLIER than usual! Here is a sneak peek… though things might shift and change some:

YouthTruth Survey Window – Monday Jan 16th
Please plan to administer the YouthTruth Survey on or near Monday January 16th. You WILL need to do some follow up with students who are absent on the day of the survey… our goal is to get as close to 100% participation as possible!
