Hey Team,
Thanks for the awesome job you all did on helping plan and lead fieldwork this past week!!
Here is a link to a shared 10-25-18 fieldwork album – drop your photos in here if you have time.

GRADEBOOKS
- Sorry for the moving target, but we ALL need to update to the NEWEST grading scale (this one includes + and – grades in
addition to A, B, C). It is called Realms 6 Point Grading – High School. Please take a few moments to update your grade book settings so all standards are using this scale! Go to Gradebook Settings drop down and then navigate to class settings - I will be asking you all to turn alpha grades ON no later than THIS WEDNESDAY after school so we can look at gradebooks together!
- On Wednesday last week we determined that by SLC’s we should have at least 3 academic standard and 1 HOSS standard scored in our gradebooks, and that there should be no fewer than 3 assignments/assessments in. I would strongly suggest you attempt get closer to 4-6 scored assignments/assessments and that you include scores on 2 HOSS standards if possible!
- I am going to ask everyone to push out a midterm progress report next weekend – on Wednesday this week we can review how to do that for anyone who needs a refresher.
CREW LESSONS – SUPPORTING STUDENT LED CONFERENCES
- Thanks to Karen and Michelle for their work on Friday and to the rest of you for holding down the fort while we did some Crew planning!
- We worked on providing direction for Crew for the coming weeks, and ONE of the things we accomplished is this Crew Lesson Flow For SLC’s over the next few weeks (we also worked on how to “grade crew” but more on that soon).
- The first few lessons are reasonably fleshed out and we’ll work on the ones that come later before they arrive!
- PLEASE REVIEW this document – there are some directions in here for what to do in crew and when
- Our School to College/Career push in schedule will impact this plan and be impacted by this plan… Jen and I will meet early this week to review the impacts! MARK – you may need to do the Thursday/Friday lesson on Monday/Tuesday this week!
INTENSIVES AND WREATH SALE KICK OFF THIS FRIDAY – SPECIAL SCHEDULE
- On Wednesday this week during our planning meeting we’ll have some time to work on Intensives for the winter
- On Friday I would like introduce the IDEA of Intensives with a short intro assembly (10 min), a small group design activity in which students get a chance to do some version of Paul’s speed dating activity (30 min) and then , and then re-group to kick off our wreath sale which is dedicated to raising the money we need for an awesome set of Intensives! (10 min)
- RW working on draft agenda for all this now – your role:
- help participate in and facilitate the design activity (stay tuned)
- check out and be aware of revised “Friday Assembly Schedule” – this impacts everyone, but especially Mark S and Karen A
CHALLENGE DAY THIS WINTER?
- We have the opportunity to do Challenge Day some time this winter IF you all feel like it is something you are supportive of! Shay’s Advisory Team of students has secured funding for it, and I have said that we are POTENTIALLY interested. We will check in about this soon, in the meantime, if you don’t know here is a link to more information.
- My experience with this has been super positive, but it IS a full day out of classes and it DOES bring up challenging social/emotional issues for students and we would need to put a strong plan in place to support kids in the week(s) afterwards.
- I would want this to be a team decision… stay tuned.
