Staff Update 3-27-22

SWAG – “Staff Week at A Glance”

Here is a link to this week’s SWAG slide.

Dress Code – Spring is coming!

Link – new and revised. very “student friendly” and written with equity perspective clearly in mind

point out gray areas – these are perfect for consultation so that hopefully we can preserve relationships and help ourselves and our kids “calibrate”

Kat is happy to act as consultant – qualified because – youngest, most recently in school, dresses in some ways “differently” than some of our older staff, female, and some of kids who might “skirt” (get it?!) edge of our dress code are ones she spends time with

possible crew lesson!

SBAC is Back… 11th Grade Standardized Testing

This May we will be conducting our Smarter Balanced Assessments for (most) Juniors. If you teach 11th graders, you will unfortunately be affected between 5/16-5/27. Here is the schedule:

We have not determined how many testing administrators we will need, but if you teach 11th graders during the periods listed above, know that they will be gone for that entire period. This especially effects the Better World Leadership class, which runs first period.

I know this is a bummer, and I appreciate in advance your flexibility as we check this box. As you are talking with students and families, please remember that the purpose of these assessments is to look at the performance of GROUPS of students, never about individual students. This is especially true now that the Essential Skills graduation requirement has been removed (“on pause”). We do want as many students to participate as possible, and we’d like them to do their best.

District Visitor Update

Starting Monday, April 4th, you may have a visitor come to school that fits the “Guest Speaker and Outside Presenter” Administrative Regulation definition.  They must sign into Raptor and wear the name tag.  Guests and Visitors must be supervised by school staff at all times and may not work alone with students.
