TRANSITIONING OUR CAFETERIA TO RE-USABLES!
Student led initiative that began last year, stemming from a desire on the part of our students (and staff) to lessen our carbon footprint here at school.
Phase 1 – reusable silverware; boat stacking; food waste composting (commercial)
Phase 2 – resusable plates and bowls and dishwashing teams!
More info to come!
ATTENDANCE TAKING REMINDERS
We are continuing to receive calls from “stressed or cranky parents” who are getting robocalls at 10:00AM because their student has been marked absent despite being dropped off at school or getting on the bus in the morning!
This is happening most often when a student arrives late to class, and neither the teacher nor the office has adjusted their attendance to reflect the student’s arrival. It is TYPICALLY the teacher’s job to make sure this is accurate… thought the office SOMETIMES does this for you for students arriving through our front doors late to 1st period.
If a student arrives late to your classes, we ask that teachers:
- make sure that the student has a pass from either the office, from the SSC, counselor or admin
- if they do not, ask them to return to where they came from for a pass
- when the student arrives, please adjust your attendance from Absent Unexcused to either LATE excused, LATE unexcused, or Absent Excused.
- Do this as soon as is convenient… tip – ask the student to put their pass on your laptop if you are in the middle of teaching
- at the Middle School especially, it is MOST CRITICAL to make sure that students who ARE IN CLASS are not marked absent unexcused!
SPRING TESTING SCHEDULE
A word about testing and one reason it MATTERS to us!
