Everyone – Tammy and I really hope you have Spring Break plans that take you away from work and that allow you to experience some well deserved rest and relaxation. Once we return from break things will start coming at us fast. But before we know it, June will be here and the year will be over. Take care, power down, sleep in, binge watch tv.
Updates, Reminders, Department Info and Rants…
Silver Rail Update – a final decision on Silver Rail has been made but Tammy and I are waiting for the school board to be notified before we broadcast out the news. As soon as we can we’ll send that news to you.
BRYT Visits It’s been encouraging hearing about your ongoing BRYT visits. We hope that you are learning from each other. Being in a school gives you a jumping off point for some good conversation when sharing out about your programs and finding ways in which you can add a different perspective to your current program or share an idea. Can’t wait for our debrief day! Make sure you have both sites visited by April 11, when we get back together to debrief.
A request from Maintenance – Can you please talk to the principals about feminine hygiene products not being flushed down the toilets? We are getting sewer backups daily, sometimes multiple the same day. We are pulling tampons out of the drain lines, their wrappers, and the “flushable wipes” which should never be flushed either. At the elementary school level this is probably more of a class discussion about not flushing things down our toilets that are not supposed to be flushed. Be kind to our maintenance workers.
Conferences – As you know and you have probably communicated, our conferences will be in person with the parents having the option to request a virtual conference. I have had a couple teachers reach out about doing fully virtual conferences because of health concerns. An ADA accommodation will need to be requested in order for this to be approved. To initiate this, the teacher needs to email HR Benefits ([email protected]) with his or her request. It would also be helpful in this email to include any note from a doctor. They are probably going to ask for that anyway so this will just reduce the emails going back and forth.
Staffing Plans – Tammy and I have received staffing allocations from Brad and April will soon be putting together staffing plans. This will take several days to do so expect your staffing plan sometime after spring break. Tammy and I will be reviewing the staffing allocations and if we don’t have any questions for Brad we will be sending the allocations worksheet out to you. Again, actual staffing plans will be coming later.
Teacher Transfer Interviews – we have tentatively scheduled transfer interviews for April 6th so block out that afternoon. I fully expect some teachers to take the video stream route so the number of people participating will be less than normal. More details soon. Location TBD.
PE Minutes Next year – just a heads up that next year we will need to provide students with 150 minutes of PE. We recently convened a small group of teachers, PE specialists, and administrators to discuss this new mandate and begin making plans on how to meet the new requirements. Stay tuned for more details.
Just a reminder – here is the link to some frequently asked RSSL Questions. This is not for public consumption so please don’t send it out to families. There are new questions and answers being added weekly.
