CHILD COUNT: December 1st is the deadline for submission of the SECC (Special Education Child Count) to the Oregon Department of Education. It’s crucial to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data for federal reporting, fiscal, and statistical purposes.

  1. Requirements for the Student Count: To be included in the SECC, a student must meet the following criteria:
    1. Active enrollment
    2. Current eligibility for special education services
    3. Current Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Your records clerk team is working hard to ensure that all the necessary paperwork is finalized for the submission. It’s important to plan and look at your caseload.  Don’t wait until the last minute!  You should be submitting your IEP paperwork for review regularly so it can be sent to the parent/guardian within 10 school days of the meeting.

The last date to submit student IEP documentation for review is Friday, November 17.

If you have eligibility or IEP dates that are on or before December 1, we recommend moving up to an earlier meeting date.  All necessary documents need to be finalized in Synergy by the deadline, including reevaluations, and as many initial evaluations that were started in September and October of this school year. Please try your best to prioritize and complete it!

Private School Process

As a reminder we have a formal process for our private schools to follow to initiate Child Find It can be found HERE. Private schools should not be contacting school sites. If they are, please direct them back to the point of contact at their private school.  Our district evaluation team meets regularly to review any private school requests.
