DECEMBER 1 CHILD COUNT:  This is the week!  December 1st is the deadline for submission of the SECC (Special Education Child Count) to the Oregon Department of Education. It’s crucial to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data for federal reporting, fiscal, and statistical purposes.

Requirements for the Student Count: To be reported on the SECC, a student must meet the following criteria:

  1. Active enrollment
  2. Current eligibility for special education services
  3. Current Individualized Education Program (IEP)

What does this mean?  All student’s IEP paperwork, including eligibility and IEP, must be finalized on or before Dec 1 to count in this collection.

Records Clerks are only reviewing paperwork that was submitted by Friday, November 17.  If case managers did not submit paperwork for a review by the date, CASE MANAGERS are still responsible for finalizing all paperwork for meetings held on or before the DEC 1 deadline.  If you have any questions please reach out to a student services coach or administrator.

RCC Reviews and Meeting Requests:

As of 11/9/2023, RCC is prioritizing reviews and meeting requests required to be finalized for the December Child Count.

We will be reviewing the  Initial evaluation, In-State paperwork, IEPs, Eligibilities, Revocations, and Enrollment Drops first and then will continue with other document reviews that are not connected to Child count after 12/1/23.

Additionally, we will be only working on meeting requests through 12/8/23 until after the count.

If you have an immediate need for a review, please reach out to us directly.

Thanks,

RCC Team (Anna, Cindy, Jessie, Jody, Kim & Kristi)

DECEMBER 1 CHILD COUNT:  December 1st is the deadline for submission of the SECC (Special Education Child Count) to the Oregon Department of Education. It’s crucial to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the data for federal reporting, fiscal, and statistical purposes.

Requirements for the Student Count: To be reported on the SECC, a student must meet the following criteria:

  2. Current eligibility for special education services
  3. Current Individualized Education Program (IEP)

Every year, we want to include as many students as possible so we can reach the 11% mark. For the past several years, we have been hovering around 10%. Last year we reported 1837 students, approximately 10.5% of BLP students.

This is why it is so important:

  • to get those initials that are due on or before December 1st completed
  • to make sure all meetings held before December 1st have paperwork finalized.

Your records clerk team is working hard to ensure that all the necessary paperwork is finalized for the submission. The last date to submit student IEP documentation for review is Friday, November 17.  THIS FRIDAY!  If you have any questions, please reach out!
