FAQ’s for the week of Sept 4, 2019

As always, most any question that you have can be answered by (a) asking a colleague or ICCL, (b) looking at the blog or (c) viewing the staff google classroom.

  • First 3 advisory days with students
    • Support session in room D1 on Tuesday 10 am.
    • See Staff Google Classroom for all documents needed for these first three advisory lessons (class code: kil6yg).
  • Staff id badges
    • Please see Kerri Green to get your updated orange sticker for this school year.
  • First day schedule distribution
    • In the morning, please tell all 7/8th grade students to report to their advisory classrooms by 8:45.  (Their advisory teachers & locations are nearly identical to last year: see this link for advisory teachers and locations.)
    • 6th graders will be handed their schedule during Tuesday’s orientation day.
    • Please direct all 6th grade students to the gym on Wednesday morning
    • If you teach a 6th grade advisory this year please be in the gym first thing to meet and greet our 6th graders and hand out their schedules.  Once the 8:45 bell rings you can then walk back to your classroom with your 6th grade students and begin team building.
  • Lockers
    • We have a handful of students who don’t have lockers.  If you know of a student that would do better without a locker and you can support them using your room/office as their locker/check in time please talk with that student and send their name to Stacy so we can reassign that locker.
    • Brettney will be the support person for all students who don’t yet have a locker assigned.
  • Schedule change protocol
    • Students who have concerns regarding their schedule can come to the Main Office during passing or lunch to fill out a “schedule change request form” with Gina.
    • There is a digital form that will be posted to the Student Google Classroom, that students can use once they have their iPad activated.
  • iPad set up details
    • Social studies department will walk all HDMS students through the set-up procedures on Thursday.
    • Anytime after Thursday please ensure that all students have access to the HDMS Student Classroom (code: rzp8ox)
  • Student Handbook
    • Due to time constraints we were unable to share some slight language changes to the cell phone/headphone policy.  We will address/clarify these adjustments are our first staff meeting.  Please make sure you are aware of these changes (on page 19 of student handbook) when teaching students our HDMS policies.  Student handbooks are posted in the Staff and Student Google Classrooms.
