5/20-5/28 Weekly Update

“Teaching students to meditate will help manage their anger or frustration, but it won’t remove a system that mass incarcerates their neighbors and family members. Giving students skills in socioemotional learning can help students better process and express their opinions, but it won’t erase a system that was built not only to their disadvantage but also sometimes actively set up to see them fail. Yoga can help a child feel present in their body, but it won’t change the fact that our society places different values on different bodies.”

End Of Year Meetings

For those of you in your evaluation year, please remember to complete and submit your self-reflection by May 24th (earlier would be even better ).  To access your self-reflection in TalentEd, go to the portal and look at the bottom of the list of Quick Links.  SLGGs are required for everyone, so even if you are not in an evaluation year, please be sure to sign up for an EOY meeting to review SLGGs.  To be prepared for that meeting please have your fall data and spring data to review. I have the hard copies of your SLGGs for just about all of you on file, if you need to see them.  I have minis done for just about everyone and for those of you who have one left, your end-of-year meeting can count as the last one.

EOY Meeting Schedule

Battle of the Books

The book list for next year is out and looks to be less divisive than this year’s list. That being said, the process we used this year will remain the same moving forward. It is not a school-sponsored event, permission slips can be made available for students wanting to take one, only students returning the permission slips should participate in any related activity and activities should not be during class time.
