Testing– Third, fourth and fifth graders will be participating in state testing from May 9- May 20 (and probably some make up tests past that date). After having no tests two years ago and tests that didn’t count last year, we are now back to the full meal deal. All of them will take a math and ELA test and fifth graders will also have a science test. These tests can be long and for some students very stressful. In an effort to show those students that we are all pulling for them, we are asking for k-2 classes to ‘adopt’ a 3-5 class. We only ask that adopting classes make a poster of some kind to encourage your ‘adopted’ class and deliver that poster on Friday, May 6. Please sign up to adopt a class. If there are no classes left, you are welcome to find someone to partner with. Thanks for helping to make the tests a positive experience for our students.
Erin’s Law- Letters went home this week. Please plan to start your lessons this month. Please remember that we need to record the dates that we teach lessons.
Absences- If you are going to be absent, please be sure that Jon and Becky both know as far ahead of time as you can. Let them both know if it is a prearranged absence. If it is a sudden sick day, please also let both of them know. Not knowing that a staff member is absent or going to be absent can put them in an awkward position as they like to be prepared for subs. While it is important for them to be informed of an absence, please know that texts/calls between the hours of 9 PM and 6 AM, may not get answered right away. Thanks for your cooperation.
Conferences- Please be sure to input your conference schedule. If you need one of us to be at a conference, please indicate in the schedule doc and give us a heads up so we are sure to look at the schedule and plan ahead.
Staffing- Thanks to those who submitted their staffing interest form. Earlier this week we received our staffing allocations for next year and we are beginning to put together a plan. If we are thinking/planning to change someone’s current assignment, we will be sure to speak with that person before sharing/ announcing staffing to all. In other words, if we don’t talk to you about what you will be teaching next year, you can assume it will be the same grade. We know this can be an anxious time for some, so please don’t hesitate to come and chat if you have questions. Job fair is Monday at the fairgrounds. Jon and Gary will both be pulling a shift. The job fair is highly recommended if you are a temporary staff. Questions? Just ask.
Vision Screening- A way ahead of time heads up- vision screening will be on May 16. It is our current understanding that all grades will be screened this year. We will work with them to try and make sure we don’t interrupt testing for grades 3, 4 and 5. More info as we get closer.
Foundational Skills Adoption Update- Work is continuing on BLP’s foundational skills curriculum adoption process. Interested staff members can check out the schedule and resources. The team is in the process of scheduling a Spanish language session and will keep you up to date on when they have a final plan. In addition, they will have 5 sites where staff can view materials: Rosland, Silver Rail, Ensworth, High Lakes, Ponderosa. The materials will be available for viewing from April 13th-May 2nd. You are welcome to leave after school during our April 20 SIW or leave right after students any other day to view.
Equity Resources- We will link BLP’s Equity Resources page in the Bronco Bulletin. This is a great spot for you to find tools and strategies for use in your classroom.
Volunteer Information- For those of you who are going to begin taking volunteers, the info sheet with live links is now ready for your information.
