Important Information from Julie Richards
mClass Beginning-of-the-Year Assessment
As a reminder – please administer mClass Beginning-of-the-Year math assessment by September 30th or as soon as possible after you receive your iPads – Here is a video about how to assign the assessment. Do not assign the Short Form to your class. The full assessment will provide more information for you. Here is a helpful checklist to get ready for mClass. To get deeper into administering, here is a full document. Here is a description of the Benchmark Goals. There will be more professional learning opportunities throughout the year to learn how to use the data.
K-2 teachers – please do not worry about meeting the deadline of September 30th for assessments if you do not have your iPads. This is a soft deadline. Once you get your iPads take the time to settle in and then give the assessments.
Progress Report Feedback
Some language changes have been made to the math section for grades k-2. Input regarding the existing reports for grades 3-5 is also welcomed. Please provide feedback by Friday, September 26th.
Educator Network Day
The first Educator Network Day is fast approaching -October 8th! Here are the topics and locations. Registration will open on September 26th. It is important to register even if you plan to attend the session at your school.

Math Happenings
Forefront
Unit 1 for Amplify Desmos Math is ALMOST ready! You will receive an email when it is ready for you to input data. Hopefully, on Friday or Monday. Sorry for the delay. Amplify Desmos Math was unable to supply the necessary data file to make this an automatic upload. Forefront decided to manually input unit 1 for us. There is a bit of uncertainty with transferring data from Amplify Desmos Math digital assessments into Forefront, so please be patient this year. You will notice that there is not an overall score for the assessments. This is consistent with Amplify Desmos Math Scoring.
Amplify Desmos Math Assessment Rubrics
It was discovered the sub-unit quizzes have a rubric for grades 2-5 within the digital assessment. There is a request with Amplify Desmos Math to provide the same rubric for the paper-pencil assessments. Here is what I copied from the digital assessments. There is no rubric for the pre-unit checks, all questions are one point. The end-of-unit assessments have a rubric on the Amplify Dashboard.
DreamBox
Unfortunately, we are unable to change the “print program” from Bridges to Amplify Desmos Math at the district level. These are the directions that individual teachers need to follow:
- Log into Dreambox
- Select Settings
- Select Class Settings
- Select Print Program and choose Amplify Desmos Math
DreamBox – With the Interactive Curriculum Guide educators can easily connect DreamBox Math to their classroom curriculum and instruction.
⭐️ Explore the scope and sequence.
⭐️ See clear alignments to standards and concepts.
⭐️ Gain familiarity with their instructional design.
⭐️ Identify and preview lessons.
Kindergarten Teachers
A few weeks ago you received an email regarding missing items from your Center Kits. Amplify Desmos Math had a delay in their production, so we will not receive those for items another 7-10 days. If you need the items immediately, you can find the pdfs in the Unit Prep Packet (log into Amplify before clicking on the link). Sorry for the inconvenience.
Additional Amplify Support:
Here is an ongoing list of tips and tricks. Reach out to your instructional coach for additional support.
District Ordering Form
The Amplify Desmos Math assessments are still not available on the District Ordering Form. Please print shop unit 2 for yourself. These are shorter assessments than Bridges assessments, so it should not impact your print shop costs.
Literacy Happenings
Exciting News!
Bend-La Pine educators are doing incredible work to reach our goal of 95% of students reading at or above grade level by the end of 2nd grade! This year, 75 amazing K–2 teachers from 15 schools are coming together in early literacy teams. Their collaboration is strengthening Tier 1 instruction and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive as a reader. We are so thankful for their passion, dedication, and teamwork—what an inspiring effort!

Student Well-Being
Waypoints Summative Assessment for grades 3-5:
This required assessment opens September 18th and closes October 25th for grades 3-12. Please see your administrator with more details but here is the 3-5 Implementation Guide. The assessment takes 15 to 20 minutes and can be completed on a student’s Ipad, using Clever and then selecting Wayfinder. Here are instructions for how it will appear in Student View.
- When they log in to the Wayfinder platform, the Waypoints assessment will be clearly visible at the top of their dashboard. It will appear as a box containing the assessment’s name with a “Start” button next to it.
Coming Soon: Life and Career Readiness Priority Standards and Rubrics
An alignment has been created for the SEL standards and Wayfinder. We have identified priority standards for each grade and created a rubric for teachers. These priorities will appear on the progress reports. In addition, K-2 will have an assessment you can give in Waypoints on Wayfinder. This is teacher observer action assessment (students will not take on the IPad) and will be aligned to the priorities and progress reports for each grade. We are seeking your feedback on these resources. Please review the priority standards and rubrics and share your input here.
