Welcome to our first publication of the Week at a Glance Blog! This school-wide communication system is authored with the purpose of keeping you informed about what will be happening the next week at Lava Ridge, notes on other items connected to teaching and learning, and nuts-and bolts-like information to keep you well informed and cut down on sit-n-git information at Staff Meetings. This blog will also be a place you can return to retrieve documents and other linked information and will limit the number of emails that come to your inbox during the week.

Thursday, September 6th
- Kindergarten Camp Group #2
Friday, September 7th
- All Kindergarteners attend
- Kindergarten class lists posted @ 2:30 followed by meet and greet with teachers.
Grade Level Teams-If your team or members of your team believe there might be gains made to student learning by sharing students at your grade level for certain content areas (ie. a teacher teaches the same math lesson to their students and another class too, while their students learn writing daily with another teacher on their team) please let me know so we are able to meet and discuss. Thank you!
Standards of Practice- The most up to date district Standards of Practice for reading, writing and math are now available. We are planning to discuss curriculum mapping and provide teams time for this on at our School Improvement Wednesday on September 12th.
Below is a note from Kevin Gehrig, who will be serving as the principal at the new elementary school:
I wanted to give you all a heads up about an internal posting that is now available on our district’s website or at the following link – http://bit.ly/NewSchoolICCL. I will be hiring three curriculum leaders to assist in the planning and preparation of the the new elementary school that will open in the fall of 2019-2020. The posting closes on September 21 and we will be conducting interviews soon after that date. The teachers hired for these postings will receive an ICCL stipend for their work during the the 2018-2019 school year and then teach at the new elementary school beginning in 2019-2020. New Lion Prides Bucket Norms (trial period)
Kid turn in times:
Thursday @ lunch – Gary and Lybe take lion pride buckets to gym for kids to turn in
Friday morning 8:30 – 9:00 PTO manages Lion Pride turn in @ library
Teachers turn in time for class:
Turn them in any time during the week for their class, cart in Library
New Drawing Plans
- Drawing announcements will happen Friday morning during announcements @ 9AM
- Ice cream kiddos come to office at 3:15 (list emailed to staff and call to class if kids don’t show up)
- Coupons for drawings in teacher boxes
