And the winners are…
From the Bend Science Station: Announcing an exciting professional development opportunity at the Science Station! Over the past few years, they realigned the Amplify curriculum for grades 2-5 to make it manageable and relevant for Bend-La Pine teachers. In addition, they designed POP Science, which includes a short sequence of NGSS-aligned, hands-on science lessons for each grade level. This January, they will conduct teacher “refresher” trainings on 2nd-5th grade modified Amplify units and on K-1 POP Science lessons. These HANDS-ON workshops combine interactive instruction and time to collaborate with grade-level peers. You will practice and walk away with specific lessons for your classroom. Even if you’ve done these workshops before, we encourage you to participate again.
Sessions run from 3-6 pm and will take place at the Bend Science Station on the OSU-C campus. You will be compensated by the district at the curriculum rate for your time. In addition, the Science Station will be offering food and drinks. Click here for a list of the sessions and dates then follow this link to up: Bend Science Station Amplify + POP Science Training – Google Sheets
3rd Grade, half-day Lab on Tuesday. Interested in a lab with Sara? Just let me know, we have funds available for substitute costs.
If you have a clock that is not working. Please email Amber and Mike so we can get it fixed.
Below is a list of those things we would get great at if we could instantly become an expert at something:
Thank you for your thoughtful planning with holiday related activities or parties you may have in the coming weeks. Lava Ridge students celebrate a variety of holidays this time of year, some do not, and some are not able to. Your consideration of every student is appreciated. Here is a reflection tool created the Bend-La Pine Equity Team you may find helpful in your planning.
If you need to have more than one volunteer in your classroom on any given day, just let Amber and Miriam know so we can plan to greet them when they arrive. Thank you for continuing to remind your volunteers that they must have a government issued id with them each time they come to help.
What a wonderful 4th Grade Concert!
Here are some of the exceptionally weird items we have eaten in the past:

From the Plumbing & Maintenance Team: Not all that goes down the drain should. Many schools have had sewer back-ups, most of them due to misuse of the systems. Here is an informative and funny video that can be shared with students about keeping our septic running clean found on the City of Bend’s Educational Resources.
The next PTO Meeting is on Thursday, December 1st @ 2:30 in the Media Center. The agenda will include Grade Level Reports (except for 1st grade, who has MTSS). The sign-up sheet is by the mailboxes. Thank you!
And finally, if you need an uplifting message or a smile, dial (707) 873-7862. This will connect you to an automated system created by a group of kindergarteners, who have a pep talk ready for all callers. 🙂
