Free Stuff- That headline always gets my attention. I was recently approached by a local organization (Kids in the Game) that has worked out a deal with the website hopsports.com. The website has online digital brain break activity for students. Kids in the Game is able to provide a subscription for 6 or 7 schools. Check it out. If this is something you’d be interested in or would like more information, please give me a call and we can discuss next steps or answer your questions.
Long Weekend- That is another headline that gets my attention. You get an extra hour of sleep this weekend if you set your clock back an hour.
Three Day Weekend- I’m kinda having fun with the headline theme today (even if the headlines don’t really match the content-why should I be any different than the media). Next Friday is Veterans’ Day so most of you will probably be taking it off. I will be out from Thursday afternoon through Saturday night at OSBA conference in Portland with cabinet and the board. Feel free to text if you are working and need something.
SBAC Data– Broken theme. Not a headline that gets a lot of peoples’ attention. Last week I shared our school SBAC data. Next week I hope to have a comparison of our district with the 20 largest school districts in Oregon as well as our 20 comparison districts. All you number nerds be on the lookout.
Teacher Leadership- One of the most important impacts of our school design planning processes has been the increased role teachers and other stakeholders have had in school improvement planning. A new study summarized in this article, validates our increased efforts to involve teachers and links teacher leadership with higher student test scores. Thanks to Dave for sharing this article.
Safe Tip Hotline- Please be sure to sign up if you haven’t already. Be on the lookout for some information from Scott or Julianne about how this will be publicized in our community. Please call Scott or Julianne with any questions.
I’m going to keep it a bit shorter and end things for this week. Thanks for all you do every day. Hope that you enjoy the extra long weekend.
