Horizontal Meeting-We are meeting Monday at 4:00 at High Lakes. Please bring your laptop as Scott B. and Julianne will be there to provide some training on Oregon Safe Tip. See you there.
ACR’s- There is a new ACR form on our website. Please be sure to use the latest version. Deadline for submission is March 1 for first through fifth grade and May 1 for kindergarten. Soon would be a good time to inform parents of this if you haven’t already. Students who have submitted and been approved before past deadlines do not need to resubmit, but those who did not get it in before the deadline need to reapply. Call me if you have any questions.
The Center Bike Helmets- The Center would once again like to partner with us to provide all third graders with bike helmets and a little bit of prevention education. This is a great program that we have been able to participate in the last two years and I’m excited that we will once again be able to partner with The Center. Please take a few minutes to complete this scheduling google doc. The assemblies/ fittings will need to fit into the following parameters.
- They can begin as early as April 16
- Assemblies last approximately 45 minutes, followed by 30-60 minutes of helmet fittings.
- Wednesday assemblies must begin no later than 10 A.M.
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday assemblies must begin no later than 11 A.M.
- One assembly per day- if someone is already signed up for a day, that day is off limits.
- Please include school name, contact name, number and email, date and time of assembly and number of third graders in your school.
I think that is all. Call with any questions. Thank you.
Outdoor School- I am now 99.9% confident in saying outdoor school will be fully funded by the state. This is great news! It looks like funding will come in the form of reimbursements after attendance. Of course, there will be a few more hoops to jump through. I’ll be working with Wendy Reeves to figure out exactly what needs to be done, but please know we will probably need a bit of information from you. My hope is to have directions for you next Friday.
Posting/Hiring- Nothing has changed since last week, but for those of you who missed it, here is what we know.
- Exec. Director of HS & College/Career Readiness- Posting closed on January 12. Interviews on January 29.
- Summit High School Principal- Posting closes January 26. Interviews on February 9.
- High Desert Middle School Principal- Posting closes on February 2. Interviews on February 20.
- Juniper Vice Principal- Currently the plan is to post this position. Dan and I are thinking about a timeline that will work best for Juniper. More info/details to come when we have them.
Should have a timeline for Juniper VP in the next couple weeks. Again, call if you have questions.
Opportunity- Here is an opportunity and local resource that you might consider becoming involved with: My name is Spring Olson, I own the Central Oregon Seed Exchange and also function as an science and agricultural educator here in Deschutes County. We are expanding our Seed to Schools program this year (we provide a vegetable or flower seed packet to each child per school) from Elk Meadow Elementary School into more schools here locally. If you have any classes that might need seed for growing or educational purposes, let me know…here to help!
