Staffing/ Hiring- Please complete your staffing plan as soon as possible if you haven’t already.  I will be reviewing to determine if you really have what you put in your plan 😉 and hopefully next week I will be giving the green light to hire classroom teachers from our generic postings or to post special positions.

From Lora- When the district made the decision to switch start times, by far the biggest concern we heard from elementary parents was the lack of availability of after-school care. Since the winter, Kids Inc has been piloting expanded programming in two of our schools (thank you, Kelle and Steve!), and it has gone well.

The expanded Kids Inc programming has two goals: 1) to accommodate more students, helping to decrease or eliminate waiting lists: and 2) to provide both “active” and “quieter” spaces for students because many of them will be spending longer periods of time in after-school care.

For this programming to be successful, the district is requiring each school with a Kids Inc program to provide two spaces: 1) gym space and 2) a classroom OR commons area near the gym (not a portable classroom). Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

From Alandra- First off, thanks to everyone who submitted a student suggestion for our annual family handbook and calendar, which is sent home to every family in the district. We have some stellar nominees! That said, we could still use your help: We have an over-representation of female students and could use some additional male student nominees. Please help us and nominate a student today using this form: https://forms.gle/1pnin61efE78dYWNA We want to highlight students from all backgrounds and abilities. Feel free to share this request with staff and thank you for helping us highlight our incredible students!

Title Purchasing- May 17 will be the last day for Title expenditures for this fiscal year. Please have any purchases/spending submitted by May 17. Thank you.

Highland- Brian shared feel good video made by a parent to celebrate an “entertainment” storyline culmination.  Entertaining indeed! Seems like a positive way to end the week.  Enjoy.

I hope you can get outside and soak up some sunshine this weekend. Thanks for all you do!
