A Word From Roger
Dear RHS Families,
The “adventure” of COVD continues and we are SO IMPRESSED with the fortitude and resilience of our students this year. It has not been easy, and despite the challenges of rising case rates, significant illness and quarantine related absences, substitute teachers and reduced “experiential offerings”, our students and school continue to GET AFTER IT!
- Our 1st trimester “F rates” were lower than ever before thanks to the hard work of both students and teachers. Well done!
- We had a super successful 1st round of Intensives in December
- We remain “fully enrolled” with 190 students and more arriving!
Speaking of absences and strong academic efforts… I want to remind you that when students are absent, they MUST stay connected to their school work through Canvas every day! We do NOT want students to fall behind! Teachers are keeping Canvas updated… so check it daily if you are stuck at home!
If your student does fall behind, be sure to mark your calendars for our Proficiency Day from 9Am – 12PM on Friday February 4th!

YouthTruth Family Survey – Please Complete ASAP!
YOUTH TRUTH PARENT-FAMILY SURVEY: We are conducting this very important and helpful YouthTruth survey again this year. There is a component for students, staff and parents/guardians! We looked carefully at the results from last year’s student and family surveys and have attempted to make several adjustments and improvements (as best we can given the pandemic) in response. Please take this survey as a parent before Friday January 28th! One per household. Realms HS YouthTruth Parent-Family Survey
Parents – we REALLY value your input! Please share!
Amazing Tape Murals at RHS
Sophomores in Art 2 were hard at work these past two weeks with a tape mural design challenge. Asked to consider the location in the warehouse, the purpose of the space, elements of design and murals with a message, teams transformed spaces into stunning works of art! Painters and gaffers tape were used to create these works. We love the vibe and authentic voices shining through!
Proficiency Day – Friday February 4th
We are once again offering a half day of “proficiency based academic support” from 9am – 12:00pm on Feb 4th. This is a professional development day for our staff, however our Leadership Students have organized a student-supported Proficiency Day on campus. Student leaders, peer mentors, and a small handful of our Student Success Team staff will be on hand to help students who may have fallen behind get caught up!!
Stay tuned for reminders about this and a sign up as it gets closer.
2022-23 Enrollment at RHS
Current 9th – 11th graders: students currently enrolled at Realms HS are automatically guaranteed a slot for the following school year (2022-23). In March we will send out our annual “Intent to Return Form” where we ask all current students to indicate their plans for the following year.
New Students to Realms HS in 2022-23: Each year we hold one or more Information Nights for New Students designed primarily for 8th grade families but also for students in other grades who are interested in attending Realms High School. Please feel free to spread the word if you know of a student/family that might be a good fit at Realms HS!
In Fall of 2022-23 we will enroll approximately 52 new 9th graders and we do expect a small number of openings (3 or 4) at each of grades 10, 11 and 12.

ACT offered in Bend LaPine School District!
When & Where will the ACT Happen This Year? Saturday April 2nd – hosted @ Summit HS and open to all Juniors (sophomores OK also) in Bend LaPine School District
Who Can Take the ACT? Sophomores and Juniors from any BLSD schools. Students may take the ACT twice – once in their Sophomore year and then again in their Junior year.
What About Registration and Fees? You will register on the ACT website by February 25th and we will send out more details closer to the time. Parents are required to cover their own registration fee though our District is working on a plan for families who qualify for Free & Reduced Lunch.
Sign up on this INTEREST FORM and
we will keep you updated on all the details!
Is it Critical to Take The ACT? Up until recently, the ACT and SAT were critical for college admissions and ALL Juniors in the BLSD took the ACT at school, during the school day! However, in the last two years, the landscape is changing! We still encourage it for college bound students in order to “keep your options open”.
Oregon colleges have stated they will continue to be “test optional” meaning the ACT is not required for admission. It is unclear if out-of-state colleges will remain test optional or if the ACT/SAT will be required for college applications or merit scholarships. For example, CA schools are test optional, but FL schools require the SAT/ACT. Highly selective schools also require the SAT/ACT.
