NEW After-School Programs!

Like a crocus in the spring time, we are continuing to emerge from COVID-induced
restrictions… This time in the form of After School Programs! We currently have
TWO after school options for students, and we have been advertising it to them in
our daily announcements, so there are already some students attending, but
there is room for more.
On Monday’s, from 4:00-5:00, Dante is offering students opportunities to learn
and play CHESS, a game thousands of years old and that continues to excite and
evolve. There are already students attending with a range of skills and experience,
and all levels are welcome! Come learn and play in the black and white jungle of
Room 1.
On Thursdays from 4:00-5:00, our nerd-in-residence Jake is teaching students to
cast spells, summon creatures, and enchant objects at MAGIC CLUB. If you don’t
know, Magic is a super-engaging card game (no real magic involved unless you
count life-long friendships forming) that uses strategy and planning. Like the chess
club, ALL LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE are welcome, and there are
already students of all levels attending. Feel free to do some internet research
before you join us, but come as you are!
Both of these clubs are being offered free of charge this year, so take advantage
of some learning!

Reminder to Sign Up for Student Led Conferences (6th and 7th grade families only)

Just a reminder for our 6th and 7th grade families that Student Led Conferences are taking place on Wednesday, April 13th and Thursday, April 14th. (Our 8th graders do not conference in the Spring but instead will be working on their Passages, a reflection of their learning over the course of their time here at Realms. More to follow about Passages soon!) Because of conferences, there will be NO SCHOOL at Realms Middle School on Thursday, April 14th and Friday, April 15th.

If you have not already signed up for a conference slot, please use the links below.

Don’t forget to mark the box regarding lunch if your child will need a lunch provided for them by school. Please send the completed and signed form to school with your child to turn in to the office OR email them to Heather at [email protected].

If you have any questions about fieldwork or would like to volunteer, please email Caleb at [email protected].

Friends of Realms is proud to co-host the 2022 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, live at the Tower Theatre, as a fundraiser for Realms Middle and High School on Saturday, April 23rd & Sunday, April, 24th.

Thanks to our corporate sponsors for making this possible!

Smarter Balanced Assessments In May

All Oregon schools will once again be administering the Smarter Balanced Assessments. We will be tackling these assessment in May. These assessments are, in many ways, more important than ever. We know that the pandemic has impacted student learning, and these assessments proved us with useful data about achievement in key math and literacy skills.

We strongly encourage all students to participate in these assessments. The scores do not negatively impact their grades or their educational future, but they DO provide our school with useful information to help us improve our curriculum and our instructional model.

By law, schools must provide “Notice of Statewide Tests and Opt Out Form” 30 days before the tests begin.
