FALL INTENSIVES – DISTANCE LEARNING STYLE!

Seniors Devan and Lilly sort donations they collected as part of the service project they designed for Intensives Week! These two #leadersofchange solicited donations and then organized care kits for locals who are currently experiencing homelessness. Thanks to all who helped out.
Stay tuned for more highlights and photos of our student Honors, Passion and Service Projects coming soon!

1ST TRIMESTER FINAL GRADES PUBLISHED

Most of you should have received an email on Friday or over the weekend with a “standards based report card” for each class. At Realms HS, we report scores using our RHS 1-6 Proficiency Scale on each of the standards covered during the trimester. These scores average together and form the students letter grade. You can also view final grades from 1st trimester on StudentVue and ParentVue.

Bend LaPine School District Adopts New Alpha Grading Scale For 2020-21 School Year:

The BLSD recently made the decision to revise the usual A, B, C, D and F grading scale this year. Due to the challenges of distance learning, all middle and high schools in Bend LaPine have replaced a D with a P (for Pass) and an F with an NG (No Grade).

The P (Pass) will have NO IMPACT of a student’s GPA whereas normally it would be calculated as a 1.0 GPA which would bring down a student’s overall GPA. The NG (No Grade) score will also have no effect on a student’s GPA, however the student DOES NOT receive the credit for a NG. NG clearly means that the student has not passed the class. If it is a required graduation credit, the student will need to retake. We will work individually to come up with Make up plans” with students who have received an NG for any required classes.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ABOUT 1ST TRIMESTER GRADES, YOUR FIRST CONTACT SHOULD BE TO THE TEACHER OF THE CLASS!

CDL DAILY “BELL SCHEDULE” TO REMAIN THE SAME

Our CDL schedule is remaining consistent for now. Actually, it looks like the comprehensive high schools may be revising theirs to look more like ours with all WebEx classes in the morning. We will continue to have morning classes on WebEx starting at 9:15AM, and afternoon Office Hours starting at 1:30PM. If you need a copy of our CDL schedule, you can download it here.

ALGEBRA 1 TARGETED STUDY GROUP TO CONTINUE, OTHERS PAUSED:

Our afternoon Targeted Study Groups are online (WebEx) groups by special invitation designed to support specific students who need extra instruction and or small group support to stay caught up in classes. The Algebra 1 Targeted Study Group run by Berit Dart WILL CONTINUE in the next two weeks. Other Targeted Study Groups will be an pause as we reconfigure these groups to become IN PERSON targeted study groups (if possible) in January. Stay tuned.

REFLECTION AND GOAL SETTING CONFERENCESBETWEEN NOW and WINTER BREAK!

You should have received and email last week or over the weekend from your student’s CREW TEACHER inviting you to get signed up for a 20 minute family conference. We REALLY ENCOURAGE 100% of families to get signed up ASAP.

These family connections DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, and we’d love to help facilitate your student’s thoughtful reflection and goal setting process!

WEDNESDAY LIPI TO RESUME THIS WEEK

As per the Bend LaPine School District’s recent decision, we ARE able to continue to offer LIPI (Limited In Person Instruction) for the next two Wednesdays. To reduce the possibility of transmitting COVID-19 that is spiking in our community, we HAVE reduced the number of students we are inviting in over the next two Wednesdays and have made strategic decisions about who is and is not invited in. Of course, we SO WISH all of our students could attend, but given the surge in Deschutes County and throughout Oregon, we must carefully balance student safety and public health with our desire to have kids on campus.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY STUDENT IS INVITED? All students who have previously attended Wednesday LIPI earlier in November will receive an email to let them know if they are invited (or not invited) to LIPI over the next two Wednesdays. If you do not receive an email, it means you are not invited. Thanks for understanding. Please feel free to reach out with ANY questions.
