The Red Zone – Things to definitely do or share

From Julie – We are in the process of planning to teach Erin’s Law (child sexual and physical abuse prevention) this year.  We have two curriculums we are exploring this year.

#1 Barbara Sinatra- 4-5 lessons  (used last year)

#2 Safety Matters-2 lessons of 35-55 minutes or 4 shorter sessions (piloting in a small number of schools this year)

KID Center has provided us with 27 licenses to pilot Safety Matters curriculum this year.  We need at least 1 school to pilot with having the classroom teachers teaching the lessons and a few schools to pilot who use the model of one person teaching the lesson to each of the classes.   This would involve a 3 hour training.  The options for training would be:

  1. February 2nd during school discretion time
  2. February 15th Educator Network time + 1 ½  hour timesheet
  3. School-based SIW time

In order to move forward with which schools will be teaching each of the curriculums we need a little bit of information from you.  Please fill out this survey by Tuesday, January 17th.  More information to come next week.

From Andrea in HR – Here is an updated link to our employee benefits webpage.  We want to draw your attention to the wellness resources that everyone has access to as well.  Our goal is to update this quarterly and that you are able to share it in your staff newsletter.  Thank you!

From Alandra re: Budget Committee Opening – Principals please share the following bilingual message with families about an opening on our Budget Committee. Applications are due Jan. 20.  Budget Committee

From Scott McDonald – IT will be making some changes to our student web filtering services on Tuesday, January 17th.  We do not anticipate a noticeable impact on access or performance.  That said, please reach out to the IT help desk if our changes restrict access to websites that are necessary for instruction.  The changes are limited to student iPad devices only.
