Updates, Reminders, and Department Info…
From Kelle Hildebrandt re: Naglieri (NNAT) Testing for Grades 3-5 – In last week’s update, Dave shared a folder of resources for NNAT testing. For your convenience, Austin created a list of grade 3-5 students who are new to the district this year; this list is also in the NNAT folder.
From Kerry Morton – The Math Curriculum Review Team finished their listening sessions with staff and parents. Here is a brochure with some of the highlights from the data we collected.
From Jennifer Hauth – The state is looking for feedback on the draft SEL standards and framework. There will be three listening sessions: Zoom Link: https://www.zoomgov.com/j/16160293174
From Tami Pike re: Home/Welfare Visits – Due to safety concerns, school nurses are not permitted to do any type of home/site visit unless prior approval has been obtained by their direct supervisor.
From Andrea – The 2023-24 calendars can be accessed here. The 2024-25 major dates calendar should be completed in the next couple of weeks.
UKG Update
- Our Time and Leave Team continues to work on backend issues that are causing some leave accruals to be inaccurate. This issue is actively being addressed and won’t cease until the data displayed within UKG matches our paper payroll records.
- Employees are instructed to only access UKG by signing into our internal UKG link with their BLS username and password. Staff who attempt to login via the external BLS jobs link will be locked out of UKG. To be unlocked, staff will need to submit a request through the IT Web Help Desk. BLS employees are to follow these instructions when applying for other BLS openings.
- We are in the process of updating the time-off choices with Frontline Absence Management/Aesop to match the choices within UKG. Next week, we will provide a cheat sheet to assist staff in selecting the correct drop-down option.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to explore Chat GPT you should. This Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool is both fascinating and scary. Its use as a classroom tool and as a productivity tool for work deserves our attention. I recently input the following prompt into Chap GPT:
Write a letter to President Biden encouraging him to switch Halloween from October 31 to the last Saturday of October. Include the stress it brings to teachers and schools and the impact it has on children’s sleep.
This is what it returned. If you’re interested, here are some resources from Education Week on this AI tool.
