Title IX Coordinator
Coordination of Title IX responsibilities are transitioning from Steve Herron to Kinsey, to align better with current practices and with other Civil Rights-related coordination duties.
As a reminder, Title IX protections cover:
- discrimination on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity;
- sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking;
- athletics, academics, and activities;
- admissions, hiring, access;
- pregnant and parenting students
If you have a potential incident or complaint that involves one of the above topics, please promptly:

- May 18 – JDRF Research Night with guest speaker. Dr Michael Harris-PhD from OHSU – Founder of NICH, afternoon (specific time TBD), Worthy BrewingPrior to coming to OHSU in 2006, Dr. Harris held a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri for 13 years. Dr. Harris assists families of children and adolescents with a variety of psychological and behavioral problems with special expertise in working with families of youth with chronic health conditions including diabetes, cystic fibrosis, inflammatory bowel disease, childhood cancer, and chronic pain.Dr. Harris`s research has involved the adaptation, implementation and evaluation of a family-based psychosocial intervention for adolescents with chronic conditions. Dr. Harris has received funding for his research from the Diabetes Research and Training Centers, National Institutes of Health, and the American Diabetes Association.

Laughter
- Immune System Booster – Laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts one’s mood, diminishes pain, and protects one from the damaging effects of stress.
- Relaxing – Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress that can leave one’s muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes.
- Endorphin Release – Laughter triggers the release of endorphins which promote an overall sense of well-being and can temporarily relieve pain.
- Heart Protection – Laughter protects the heart by improving the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow which can help protect against heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems.
- Calorie Burner – Laughter burns calories! Laughing for 10 to 10 minutes a day can burn approximately 40 calories – which could be enough to lose three or four pounds over the course of a year.
- Decreases Anger/Resentment – Laughter can help diffuse anger and conflict by putting problems into perspective and enable one to move on from confrontations without holding bitterness.
