October 14

Horizontal Meeting- We will have our horizontal meeting on Monday @ Bear Creek starting at 4. We will start with a few administrivia items.  We’ll then take some time to address slgg’s, especially as they relate to specialists (title, ERC, ELD). Jon Lindsay will be there to answer all of your slgg questions.

De-escalation Training- There are three upcoming opportunities to participate in a de-escalation training in our district. The training will help participants understand the contributing components of a crisis and the variables that influence them, giving the tools to hopefully de-escalate volatile situations resulting in  positive resolutions. The trainings will be held the following times and places:

October 25- Board Room  1:00-3:30

November 9- Board Room  1:00-3:30

November 3- La Pine High School Library 1:00-3:30

Offered to administrators, office staff or any others you may feel most likely to encounter these kinds of situations. Sign up on PD Place.

Title Budget- Yay!! Happy day for JoAnne as she submitted the title budget to the state and it was approved on the first try! This is a testament to all of her knowledge, organization, attention to detail and hard work. Thanks, JoAnne!! We are fortunate to have her.

Below is a fun video that is a great example of growth mindset. I think it also applies to our work on school design. You won’t get it right the first time. In fact, we may never ‘get it right.’ But, if we learn from our mistakes, apply what we learn, and keep striving towards the goal, we’ll continue to grow and get closer to hitting the mark. And if you don’t get any deeper meaning out of the video,  Audri’s reaction at the end is worth the time. I hope you enjoy this…and remember, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

Principal Month- October is National Principal Month (I bet you didn’t know there was such a thing, and if you did, you should also know that a month isn’t close to long enough to honor you for all that you do). I hope this month, and every other day of the year, you take some time to reflect on the importance of what you do each day. Thank you. The kids at your schools are blessed to have you leading! Have a great weekend. Stay dry! See you Monday.
