Math Info- Please see math report card revisions that were completed to more closely reflect standards. This link will provide a refresher for accessing and using forefront.
ELA- Here is a link to the ELA newsletter.
Outdoor School- Some of you will be heading to outdoor school this fall. As of now, we do not know how much money we will be getting from the state for outdoor school. We are in the process of applying and hope to know later this fall. I realize that doesn’t help with planning and paying. This year we still have $50k budgeted, which comes out to around $30-$35/ student. I am hopeful that between district and state contributions we will be able cover the costs, but don’t know for sure. I realize that makes things difficult for you, but we have no idea what the state will be providing. I will keep you in the loop as I get more information.
Please remember our new guidelines around parents/ chaperones at outdoor school. Each school is encouraged to have 5 parents attend for sleeping/supervision. If you need more reminder about this, give me a call and I will try to refresh what we came up with last year.
Leadership- Reminder that Monday’s leadership meeting has been cancelled. Please add Monday, October 2 at 3:15 at Ed. Ctr. to your leadership meeting calendar. I’m not sure how I missed it, but we WILL be meeting that day.
Erin’s Law- Last year we taught Safe Touch to our students in order to meet the requirements of Erin’s law. Kimberly Boehme, from the Kids’ Center will be at our horizontal on September 18 to discuss more about Erin’s law. Another requirement is that staff receives training around this law. In order to meet this requirement, Kimberly is asking to attend a staff meeting this school year. She has asked that you sign up on this google doc. If you would like her to present on a Wednesday, give me a call and I can connect you with her or you can ask at our meeting on the 18th.
Dental Screening- Kemple Clinic will be taking over all dental screenings for K-2 students this year. We are currently finalizing an MOU. When that is complete, I will get you more information including scheduling, which we will do much like we did the Center bike helmet scheduling last year. Thanks.
Fundraising- Per district policy ALL fundraising events and activities MUST be approved by principals prior to the event/activity taking place. Please use this form. Thanks!
Out of State Travel- I realize at the elementary school level that we don’t do much out of state travel. In the event that you do participate in school related out of state travel, please remember that any out of state travel must first be approved by the superintendent (again-school related-I’m sure Shay is ok with you heading out of state for vacations and personal travel ;_).
Enrollment- We’re still watching numbers. Today is the day to have all no shows cleaned out of the system. We are over enrollment at elementary, but as is the norm, we begin shrinking a bit as we clean out the no shows. Thank you once again for your understanding, patience and willingness to consider the big picture while still advocating for your students, staff and schools.
Great start this week, everyone. We saw the fruits of all the effort you put into planning over the last month. Thank you for everything you’ve done and do every day to make our schools great places for our students! Have a fantastic weekend.
