The topic of digital privacy and the access of student data has been in the news recently. As a school district we have the obligation to protect our students data. When sending emails we know to be careful not to include student names and i.d.’s together in the body of the email. But what about the online services that we have our students use? How is student data being secured by these services? Who has access to it and how is it being used? Schools should do their part to secure information, use it correctly, and educate students about digital citizenship and digital privacy. How student data is collected and handled is something the Instructional Technology Department takes seriously when selecting apps and services.
