10TH & 11TH GRADE FORECASTING FORM – DUE ASAP
On Monday of this past week Jen Rule and Roger met with all of the 10th and 11th graders who were on campus and we walked through the “Forecasting Form”. This is a critical tool for making sure your student indicates their class choices for the 2021-22 school year.
We need ALL STUDENTS TO COMPLETE THIS FORM ASAP!
Forecasting Form for current 10th Gr
Forecasting Form for current 11th Gr
If you were not present on Monday, or if you did not complete the form, please do so NO LATER than Wednesday April 28th!
Current 9th graders will be forecasting in Crew and the process is much simpler!
9th – 11th INTENT TO RETURN FORM FOR 21-22 SCHOOL YEAR
As we forecast for courses and build schedules for next year we need to know, as best we can, who to expect in September of next year! Part of that process is through forecasting (above) but we ALSO ASK that all families complete this very simple “Intent to Return” form!
Let us know if your student is planning to be back (or not?) at RHS next year. Intent to Return Forms should be filled out by ALL 9th – 11th graders and are due by Friday April 30th
11TH GRADE SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENTS
Schools across Oregon will once again be administering a the “Smarter Balanced” standardized assessments for 11th graders this year in literacy and math, though rest assured, they have been significantly pared down in terms of length!
The SBAC math and reading assessments are focused on core high school competencies and, despite the pandemic, we DO strongly encourage all of our students to take these assessments for two reasons:
- These assessments allow each of our students to meet the “essential skills” required for graduation. Students must meet these “essential skills” requirements through EITHER the SBAC assessment, the ACT, or a separate officially scored work sample.
- After a tough year of “unpredictable” learning, these assessments can give us a another useful data point helping us know where each of our students is at with respect to these important college-ready skills – allowing us to bettor customize curriculum and support going forward
We will be administering these assessments in mid May and each test will take between 1 and 2 class period.
If you want to opt out of these assessments, you will need to complete and return this opt out form by Monday May 3rd.

COVID RELATED UPDATES…
Staying All In Despite Current Surge – What You Need To Know:
We have been told by the Bend LaPine School District that we are planning to stay “All In” despite rising numbers in the community as long we are NOT seeing significant “school based COVID-19 transmissions”. Based on this, here are some important things to know:
We have not YET had a COVID positive student on campus at RHS, however it is likely just a matter of time. All of our local high schools have had COVID positive students (in school) resulting in quarantines. We currently have several RHS students who are home on quarantine due to exposures to COVID at home, in the community, or even on the school bus. Here is how you can help:
- help your student minimize their unmasked interactions outside of school!
- remind your student that masks and social distancing at school are critically important to keeping school open and avoiding quarantine
- EXPECT that we will have a COVID exposure AT school eventually – if/when that happens, you will receive an email
- know that students who are deemed in “close contact” (defined as less than 6′ for more than 15 minutes) will be quarantined for 10 days and this is not negotiable… it is District and County policy. Any student who is deemed a “close contact” will be called by our nursing staff.
- Please know that our nurses are working incredibly hard to keep the information flowing, and have a huge job in front of them. There have been instances where our contact tracers and nurses have been on the receiving end of some very angry words from parents… please know that our nurses are here to help as best they can… and they did not cause this pandemic, nor do they set the rules 🙂
- know that our teachers will work as hard as they can to support quarantined students through email, assignments and materials posted to Canvas and more!
Vaccines Available and Encouraged For Students 16 and Up – Get A Vaccine in one of our comprehensive high schools – VERY SOON!
One of the BEST things you can do to help us keep numbers down and maximize the chances of school staying open is to help your 16 year old get vaccinated!
Beginning next week, youth 16 and older, one of the fastest-growing COVID-19 positive age groups in the state, will be able to receive their first vaccine – free – at school in Central Oregon. Get all the information here! And answers to FAQ’s Here
RHS students who need to miss school in order to receive a vaccine WILL BE EXCUSED!!
