1ST TRIMESTER COMES TO A CLOSE

Our 1st trimester is over, and you all should be receiving end of trimester report card grades for your student in each of their classes!

At Realms, teachers send out subject specific, standards-based grade reports which include a 1-6 score on each of the standards of the course. At the high school, these reports also include a letter grade. You can also see final grades on ParentVue!

If you have questions about your student’s academic progress, PLEASE REACH OUT! You can reach out to the specific teacher, to your student Crew teacher, OR to our admin team! Teacher emails are all accessible on ParentVue. Our admin emails are [email protected] and [email protected].

Mighty Cause Fundraiser Is Launched!

This year, Friends of Realms is replacing the annual wreath and tree sale with a new “peer to peer” fundraiser through a platform called Mighty Cause in which each Realms MS and HS student has created a personalized webpage with a “fieldwork story” of their own. Our hope is that our parents can support their students in getting this page out to friends, family members and contacts who can make donations in support of fieldwork and intensives at Realms!

Our goal is to raise $10,000 through this campaign and to see if we can have EVERY high school and middle school student reach at least ONE donor!

Our hope is that YOU, our parents/guardians, can support their students in getting their individualized page out to friends, family members and contacts who can make donations in support of fieldwork and intensives at Realms! Ask to see your student’s published page, and then check here for tips on how to share and spread the word!

We have several INCENTIVES, including our traditional “Butler Day” and of course a fun competition between each Crew for who can solicit the most donations, regardless of the size of that donation! It is PARTICIPATION by EVERY STUDENT that counts!

THANK YOU in advance for helping with this event – parent support in getting your students’ page out there will make the difference. All proceeds go to fund fieldwork, intensives and electives at Realms MS and HS – see below!

Fundraiser closes Friday January 12th.

Choice Options Enrollment Season Is Here!

On January 2nd the Choice Option Application window opens. For students interested in joining Realms Middle as new 6th (plus new 7th and 8th) or Realms High as new 9th (plus new 10, 11, 12) graders in Sept 2024 we will be hosting our annual Information Nights!

Please feel free to spread the word about RMS and RHS to families who might be interested!

Current 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade students, you do NOT need to do anything! Your enrollment at Realms will simply “roll over” to the 2024-25 school year.

Current 8th Grade Students: 8th grade students are making the exciting transition to high school! 50% of Realms High School’s 9th grade seats are automatically reserved for Realms 8th grade graduates. If you are an 8th grader interested in enrolling in Realms HS, you must complete the application along with other outside applicants, however your changes of getting a spot are increased since 50% of sts are reserved. Applications are now, for the first time ever, run through ParentVue and you can find the choice options application instructions here.

RMS Winter Dance Volunteers Needed!

Realms Middle School Leadership Club is excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a winter dance on January 26th on our campus from 6-8PM!

After break we’ll send out more information regarding tickets, the theme, and other details, but what we need now is to start getting volunteers signed up to help!

We need help with a few things, including food and beverage, general supervision, as well as helping with a quieter game area. No preparation is required, and everything is provided. Volunteering at these events is crucial for making them happen, but it’s also a lot of fun! If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here by putting your name in the box of the job and time you’d like to do.

YouthTruth Survey Opening Soon!

We REALLY value the input of our students and parents! Every year we gather incredibly valuable information from our students, and from you our parents, in the form of the Youth Truth Survey. We will be administering the survey with students in Crew during the month of January and will send the parent survey link at the same time!

The YouthTruth Student Survey is a nationally recognized survey used in hundreds of schools and districts across the country, surveying hundreds of thousands of students. The
survey asks students about their experiences in the school and with their teachers, including how engaged they are at school, the rigor of their coursework, and their preparedness for the future. Our school, other schools, and researchers may use such information for developing plans to help schools and teachers improve. For information about this survey, please visit http://youthtruthsurvey.org, or call us.

Smarter Balanced Assessments – Spring 2024

Every year we administer the Smarter Balanced Assessments in Oregon to 6th, 7th, 8th and 11th grade students. These assessments are actually VERY VERY valuable, to both students and us as a school! These assessments will not take place until May of 2024, but we wanted you to know how important we think they are!

We strongly encourage all students to participate in these assessments.

Scores on these assessments have NO BEARING on a student’s grades, but they DO provide students with an opportunity to practice taking standardized tests that will push them to think, to persist, and to problem solve… and THESE are WORTHY SKILLS!

The results ALSO provide our school with useful data about overall trends around skills and achievement that help us strengthen our curriculum!

By law, schools must provide “Notice of Statewide Tests and Opt Out Form” 30 days before the tests begin. Here is that opt out information.
