Staffing Updates: A few staffing updates:

  • Please give Tara a big WOOT! WOOT! for being hired at Bear Creek for next year! I know we are going to miss her, but I am so excited that she has been hired and knows what she will be doing next year before the summer even begins!
  • September James will be our Student Success EA next school year (Vanessa has been our Student Success EA this year). Currently, September is an EA at the Silver Rail behavior program. Please help me welcome her to our team ([email protected])
  • We will be interviewing for our secretary position on Monday, July 19th. Please let me know if you are interested in being part of that hiring team. Also, if you know of someone who would be a great addition to our office team, please let them know that they will be able to apply until July 15th.

Spirit Week(s): Thank you for your participation in our spirit days last week! We will continue the fun this week!

Schedule Changes Wednesday and Thursday: On Wednesday this week, we will follow our usual Thursday schedule. On Thursday this week, we will follow our usual Wednesday schedule. This applies to specialists, recesses, lunch, duties, etc…

Last Day of School Events: Please carefully review the below events and ask if you have any questions:

  • 9:00 – Grade 5 parade: All students and staff will line the perimeter of the A/B playground starting at 9:00. Classes that created hats for our fifth graders will join the correct class at 9:00 to deliver hats and then join the parade perimeter on the playground. Fifth graders will walk the perimeter of the playground and be cheered by the staff and students. We should be done by no later than 9:30 (probably earlier).
  • 12:45 – Student dismissal: Once you have dismissed all of your students, please join the bus area in the back for the annual wave to the busses.
  • 1:00(ish) – All Staff Meeting: (Staff Lunch and Closing Words): Pizza Mondo and drinks will be served. (Location TBD).
  • 3:30(ish) – Staff Gathering at Good Life Brewing. Leslie Carrol will be there and would love to see as many staff as possible.

What Do I Do With…: Several staff have asked me what to do with different items. I hope this help with some of the most common asks:

  • Math Manipulative Kits (from Kerry Morton): We will not be purchasing individual math kits again next year.  Please collect these kits and add the items to classroom manipulative kits.  With the added items, you should be able to create individual kits for students to use next year.
  • Student Supply Boxes (from Kelle): Please keep ANY items that you would like to keep for your room for future use. Send everything else that came in their pencil box home. Each student will be supplied with a new box full of new supplies next year. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Summer Lunches: Great News!! Elk Meadow will once again be hosting a grab-and-go summer lunch program on Monday-Friday from 11:30-12:30. It can be found in the back of the building.

Furniture & Supply Needs: As we come to the end of the year, I would like to remind everyone, if you have furniture or supply needs, please let me know – I will do my very best to meet your needs. DO NOT TAKE FURNITURE OR SUPPLIES FROM OTHER ROOMS (even if they are moving out) without my or Mike’s approval. The new staff to our building do not deserve to come into a stripped-down room. Thank you.

COVID/ Safety Related Information:

Questions/Concerns about COVID-19 related matters?: Please follow this flowchart. If in doubt about what to do, you can always check with Frank or Kelle. Indoor Masking for BLS Employees After June 21: Please continue to follow indoor masking requirements through June 21.  Next week, we will receive an email with more guidance about masking requirements after June 21.

Quarantine Requirements: OHA has pivoted once again and is now allowing the local health authorities to reduce the mandatory 14-day quarantine to a 10-day.  Tami Pike is consulting with our friends at Deschutes County Health and will be communicating to administrators and nurses which guideline that we’ll be following.
