This and That:
Staff Meeting Agenda: We have two items on our staff meeting agenda this week. First, Ann Hollenberg will be doing our yearly Epipen training and second, Jess, Brenna, and Steph will be leading a short equity training. It is my hope to continue to challenge our thinking and choices in the area of equity throughout the year (and years to come) through training and conversations. No judgements intended… just on-going learning.
11/6 SIW Plans: There has been some conflicting information out there regarding the district SIW plans this week (sorry about that!) Most schools will have grades 3-5 staff attend a Dreambox math training and K-2 will have a choice. However, since we are one of a few K-5 Dreambox schools, our K-5 staff will all participate in the training. I will send out a few more details early in the week. I anticipate that our start time will be at 1:30 instead of 1:15, but I will confirm when I am able.
A Family Affair: After our SIW last week, I was talking with a few staff members when one of the staff members very simply (and accurately) stated that our Smarter Balanced scores that were shared last week are “a family affair.” I’m sure that none of us would argue with that idea. I want to publicly assure our grades 3-5 teachers that the rest of us are not looking to them to turn the scores around alone. We will do the hard work TOGETHER over the course of the next few years.
