Principal’s Hello!
Hey, everyone! It’s another beautiful, sunny, and cold day at Pacific Crest!
We had another awesome week of learning. Our band and orchestra students prepared for their big shows in a couple weeks. Our 6th graders prepared for their environmental science trip to Skyliners next week. And everyone learned to play pickleball…because it’s Bend! You have to play pickleball!
Have a great weekend with your families, everyone. I challenge you to slow down, savor every moment, and hug your kids extra tight. They’re growing up fast!
Sean
Parking at Businesses at Lolo & Skyliner Ranch Rd.
We know the after-school rush is real, parking can be challenging, and we’re all in a hurry! But please don’t park in the business lot on Skyliner Ranch and Lolo. (These are the businesses like Ruffwear, Crow’s Feet, etc.) These businesses have limited spots, and we cannot park there if we’re not actually going into those stores.
Thanks for understanding! Let’s be good neighbors, because Northwest Bend is awesome! We have to keep it awesome!
A Message from PCCO President, Anne Westerhoff
This Friday, March 3 is a perfect day to treat our fabulous PCMS staff to some comfort food. A baked potato and soup bar seems to be the perfect thing during cold weather. I know some of you have some amazing recipes to share. Click here to sign-up for items to contribute to this wintery feast. There is a nice mix of homemade and grab-n-go items to select from. If you wish to help with set-up or clean-up, remember you must be a cleared volunteer. Contact Deb Mullen at [email protected] or (541) 355-7801 to verify your clearance status. We truly appreciate your time, effort and generosity. Don’t forget to follow us on social media: @pacificcrestco.
Scoliosis Screening at PCMS
The Bend – La Pine Schools nursing team will be doing free scoliosis screenings on Thursday March 9th for 8th grade boys and girls and 6th grade girls at Pacific Crest Middle School. This quick and basic check will screen for abnormal curvatures of the spine. Any students that have questionable findings will receive a free follow up screening at school from an orthopedic health care provider from a local clinic at the end of the school year.
If you do not want to have your student participate, please email Nurse Hollenberg at [email protected] or deliver a handwritten note to the school Attendance Office on or before March 9th.
It is helpful if girls wear a sports bra or camisole top the day of screening.
If you have questions, please contact Nurse Hollenberg at (541) 355-6922.

Sparrow Enzo Fundraising and Community Service Vouchers
Thank you PCMS Community & PCCO! We’ve had a great start to our fundraising efforts for Sparrow Enzo. Through donations of refreshments, decor and music, our Valentine’s Day Dance was not only a fun event, but we raised $1,000. Keeping with the “heart theme”, our Val-o-Gram fundraiser was awesome. We raised $1,200. Proceeds from both of these events will go directly to Enzo at the end of the school year. We appreciate all of the volunteer support as well!
In the month of March, we have a “Lucky Enzo Pot of Gold Coin Collection” which is where each grade level fills a pot with coins to benefit our Sparrow. This is a super easy way to support Enzo.
Last but not least, in partnership with local business sponsors, students can support Sparrow Enzo by performing community service. Spend a few moments with your family watching the Step Into Compassion video and Enzo’s Life Story. After your student completes community service hours and in order for local sponsors to financially support Enzo, students must submit their hour(s) using an online voucher form. Our school goal is to reach 600 hours. That is only one hour per student. We can do this Golden Eagles!
Here are some suggestions for earning community service hours:
- rake leafs/pine needles
- shovel snow
- read a book to a young child
- pick up trash at a park or in your neighborhood
- offer to walk a friend’s dog
- wash a car for an elderly neighbor
- volunteer at a local shelter with your family
