Principal’s Hello

Dear Golden Eagle Families,

Today I simply wish to share with you my message to students from Wednesday morning:

Good morning, students. This is your principal, Mr. Keating. As you know, yesterday was a big day for our country, an important day. Every four years we elect a president. Since 1900, as Mr. Bishop taught me yesterday, the Democrats have won half the time, and the Republicans have won half the time. This is democracy, the sharing of power.

When a new party comes into power, whether it’s one you agree with or don’t, we must follow our core principles. These main principles are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These are rights nobody should take away from you. And your rights stop once they hurt someone else, once they take away someone else’s rights.

Here at PCMS, we have the district policies we follow. We also have our school expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible. And finally we have our school culture, which is more of a feeling. It isn’t written down.

My message this morning has to do with this last piece–our culture. Here at PCMS, our culture is one of kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. We are all different. We respect each other, our different beliefs, views, and perspectives. This is democracy. If your presidential candidate won or did not win, we don’t gloat or brag. We’re respectful and kind. This is the PCMS way. Nobody will take this away from us.

If you feel marginalized or belittled, teased or ostracized, please tell someone. We also have our bias incident reports and Safe Oregon Tipline on our iPads. You are not alone. We are all different, yet we’re together, one school. This is the PCMS way.

Thank you for your time, and have peaceful day.

6th Grade Awards Assembly

Today we held a 6th grade awards assembly. This assembly served to award our students who are demonstrating positive behaviors on campus from 9/9-10/25. We celebrated:

  • 58 students who haven’t been late to class
  • 26 students who have attended school every day
  • 5 students who were selected for the Golden Eagle CLASS Award. These students demonstrate CLASS everyday: Character, Leadership, Attitude, Scholarship and Service.

We are proud of our PCMS Eagles!

Athletics Update | Wrestling Coaches Needed (Head & Assistant)

We are looking for new wrestling coaches. Someone who can lead our team in skill development, work ethic, and sportsmanship as well as cultivate a positive team culture. Does this sound like you? Do you know someone who would be a good fit? If so, please apply online at the Bend-La Pine district website. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to our Athletic Director, Jason Deaner. Go Eagles!
