Updates, Reminders, Department Info and Rants…
Thanks for attending the last minute meeting on Tuesday. As soon as more information on the topics we discussed comes out we will share. For now no definite news on the 5 days for kids. It’s still a work in progress. Keep up the great work. So far we are weathering all our staff absences well. There have been some close calls on some days but so far all jobs seem to be getting filled.
From Kinsey – Just a reminder about some upcoming months and some resources for each. Look for more resources from Christie Boen.
1. Black History Month: February. Resources here.
2. Women’s History Month: March. Resources here.
From Julianne re: masks – A quick reminder that our nursing and office manager teams may order PPE from Distribution, as needed. Here is the form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSccLCgyWa4kvGvT6sJGzdMbJnfUTCkD-gMnOJBmRFxhzXjjXg/viewform Please have your school nurse place the weekly PPE order to avoid any confusion.
You are encouraged to make 3-ply and KN95 masks available to students and staff via self serve. The KN95s with black printing on the outside of the mask are smaller than the newer all white masks. Those with black imprints may be better suited for youth faces. When you order additional KN95s you will receive the new, larger version.
And remember, in an effort to extend the life of PPE during the pandemic, staff are reminded that KN95 masks can be reused when appropriate handling and storage is followed by following some simple storage and handling rules. Click here.
State Testing Just a reminder that yes, we will be doing state testing this year. We are also doing NAEP testing, so they have permission to come into our schools to administer that.
Safe Touch At this time, we would like everyone to put a hold on doing Safe Touch lessons. There is a team that Jennifer Hauth will pull together to revamp the program. We know Safe Touch is out of date and there are better things out there to teach these important skills. When the team (school counselors) have completed the lessons, we’ll share them out. If you have already done Safe Touch for the year, not to worry! Just check it off your list that it is done and be ready for something new next year.
The Red Zone – Things to Share or Do…
Principals and Assistant Principals – Please remember to take the survey re: next year by this Sunday.
