Welcome back everyone. This first blog entry is going to be a quick one. Since we are going to see each other Monday there’s no sense in going overboard on topics.
Updates, Reminders, Department Info and Rants…
From Lora – As you plan for back-to-school activities, please remember that in 2022 Yom Kippur begins the evening of October 4th and lasts until the evening of October 5th. Please do NOT schedule any family events/activities on these dates.
Just a reminder about school supplies – you have discretionary dollars for school supplies. Please send a message to your teachers not to circumvent the process by going out to donors choose (we’ve heard of some instances of this happening).
Hot off the Press! – we heard from Kim in transportation that we have enough drivers to accommodate field trips this year. Woo Hoo! Look for more information on this topic in upcoming updates.
Hiring – We will be discussing hiring at our Monday retreat. I know many of you have seen some increases in enrollment (which is good news) but there are some that are down a bit. This is the tricky part of the year where we don’t want to over hire. Tammy and I will be reviewing numbers daily so before you start a hiring process talk to us first
The Red Zone – Things to do or share
Please take note of a few time and location changes…
- We will be at Pac Crest for the retreat – not Juniper. We had to move the summer program that was at Ensworth over to Juniper so now we don’t have the space. See you at Pac Crest Monday. Don’t forget to bring your computer and something to write in.
- The CEL training on the 10th and 11th is from 9-3 not 8-4. Location still TBD

- 2022-23 PD Calendar – Here is the Professional Development calendar for 22-23 to help you track the required trainings. August 1 – Summer School begins
- August 8 – Elementary Leadership 8 – 3:30 @ Juniper. Lunch provided
- August 8 – School Offices open. Here are the signs to use for your front door. Please post them in English and Spanish.
- August 10 and 11 – CEL training for all administrators 9-3 @location TBA
- August 15–Title 1 Retreat–Principals, Office Managers and teachers @ Open Space Event Studio from 12:30-3:30. Lunch included.
- August 15 and 16 – Reunification Training all day @ Caldera: Safety Admin Reps required from some schools – we already emailed those who are impacted.
- August 17: Safety Day – mandatory that the administrator in charge of safety attends. Each school is asked to identify one administrator who will oversee safety at your school. The Safety Administrator will also lead the school safety team in a monthly meeting AND attend safety PD as a building rep.
- August 17 and 18 – Taking it Up Training – optional – registration required
- August 24 and 25 – Innovation Conference @ PCMS – Administrators required to attend keynote both days–you are welcome to attend other sessions as well
- August 29 – new teacher day
- August 29 – Sept 2 – Pre-service week. Here is the plan for the August pre-service week.
- September 7, 8 and 9 – First Week of School
