Winter Goals

The Winter Goals are here. If you can only do part of the Energy Challenge, that is fine. If you missed the Love the bus week, also fine. April is Earth Month, I will be sending some ideas your way. Start to think about what you want to do with your team. Food Waste Reduction Week is April 1-7. If you do not get to the love not waste campaign this month, The first week in April would be a great time to do this with the Elementary schools. I have a new video in the works for the MS and HS. Remember there are loads of education ideas to inspire your students in the winter goals.

Recycling signage

Signage was provided to those that were here. More signs can be printed as you need them. The district standard is to have a side by side stations in every classroom and then a side by side bin in the common areas. Classroom stations should have Paper Recycling and Landfill signs.

Common corridors in Elementary schools should have large roll carts for co mingle recycling and garbage cans next to each other, 1 per every 6 classrroms.

This is what should be in the common corridors in elementary schools. The co-mingle bins should have blue co-mingle and the paper recycling. Many studies indicate the side by side increases recycling behavior. Teachers should have thier classroom bins emptied into these bins as needed.

High schools now have new recycling stations.

Energy Competition

This started in January and currently only 1 school has completed the investigation with student. I would love to you all be involved.. It was designed to work though with your green teams. We have until Spring Break to complete it. Here is the investigation, and the Audit. The next steps are starting Phantom Fridays, coming up with an energy slogan and getting waste stations set up in every classroom and common area.

Mountain Film for Students

BSH Green team students are working on getting the auditorium to host a HS Mountain Film showing. You too can show it at your schools. There is one for Elementary, Middle and HS. Go here to apply. They will send you a list of films that are curated for that group of students that you can show in commons, classrooms or the media center.
