Energy Efficiency

The District is committed to Energy Efficiency and Conservation and has been enrolled in the Energy Trust of Oregon programs for new and existing buildings for many years. Clean energy in the form of photovoltaic solar arrays, has also been adopted at a number of facilities.

What is phantom energy?

Phantom energy is the electricity your devices draw while in standby mode. Anything with a light, clock, or remote-controlled sensor likely uses power even when you’re not using it.

That includes things like:

  • TVs and streaming boxes
  • Computers and monitors
  • Coffee makers
  • Phone and laptop chargers
  • Projectors
  • Smart speakers and appliances
  • PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT unplug or power down printers if they are connected to a network. IT needs to access these to run updates and keep everything working smoothly. Printers typically go into a low power mode when not being used, so power consumption should be minimal while we are away.
