As we role into the last months, keep in mind….

  1. Due plans on all graduating students needs to be completed
  2. Due plans on all “Concurrent” students needs to be completed
  3. Confirm that you’ve finalized all checked plans
  4. Transitioning students – with only 2 1/2 months left, check in with the MS or HS coordinator to write the renewal together
  5. And lastly – we are asking you to get all your plans written no later than May 31st. Why?
    1. Parents and staff need to be reachable for signatures, etc.

3 year re-evaluations and a protocol RE: parent nonparticipation

A 3 yr (which comes with possible eligibility / accommodation changes) requires a signature of consent to re-evaluate from the parent – and from here on out should not be held without parent participation.
So, if there is a 3 yr due and parents are not responding/reachable, rather than hold a 3 yr meeting without parents:
     1. hold an annual meeting with your team and
     2. on the notes page of the Meeting Packet add a note:
              a. parents are not responding/attending (the 3 yr re-evaluation) planned meeting 
              b. the 504 plan is continuing as an annual without changes.

Remember – you’ll have to ask the District 504 Assistant to change the 504 process from a 3 yr re-eval (4 sections to fill) to an annual (2 sections to fill) before writing the plan.

ALL students with due 504 plans in the months of April/May…
     – Student with 3yr or annual due & transitioning to MS/HS
          * Please reach out to the MS/HS 504 coordinator to either:
                 1. renew the plan with their input or
                 2. wait until the student transitions to renew the plan
– Let your 504 Coordinator Assistant know of the decision if choosing #2.

 

Please start completing/sending written 504 plans – all to be finalized by May 31st – so not all are arriving the last week of May or the last few weeks of June.
This allows your 504 Coordinator Assistant to review plans and have you finalize the plans over a spread of months AND before you have left for the school year.

We’re hoping this will free all of us up at a very busy time of the year.

Full time enrolled Bend-La Pine Online Students with a 504 plan
Full time enrollment in BLPOnline  —  School of attendance is still responsible for maintaining the 504 plan.

Students with a 504 plan and full time enrolled in BLPO may not show in your portfolio because:

1). returning after an absence and goes straight to BLPOnline full time
2). dropped from school of attendance to attend BLPOnline full time

There is a way for you to see them and still access their 504 plan.
While in your portfolio, choose Bend-La Pine Schools in upper right hand corner
If you do have a ‘hidden’ BLPOnline student, you’ll now see them in your portfolio list. School will be listed as BLPOnline.
