January 8th Update

Progress Report (aka Report Cards)

Below is information regarding the content of the report cards (not the technical aspects of Synergy). Synergy information will come in an email as soon as it is up and running.

You will have an opportunity to cover the following material within the next couple of weeks either with your ICCL/admin team or Teams training with us on Jan 8th. But I want to put all the materials here for anyone who misses these opportunities. There are videos and notes at the bottom of each slide to help explain the content. You may need to be in slideshow mode for the video links to be active.

Literacy Happenings

EL Books with audible options beyond SORA
Teachers have been hard at work recording EL required texts (to start with) for unlimited numbers of students to have access to. We are now in the technical side of getting them edited and finalized for easy access. We will keep you posted as this becomes available.

EL Assessment Binders
These digital binders have been developed to support you in scoring EL assessments. The goal of this project was to put all the scoring, standards, rubrics, answers … in one place for teachers K-5. You will find screenshots added to questions taken from the digital assessments to show standards covered and points/rubrics. Please let me (Lindsley) know if there are resources that would be helpful to add that I have missed. Please do not print these yet, as I am sure there are resources that folks will want added. But feel free to start exploring them. There will be an option to have them printed for you down the road once they are finalized.

EL Assessments in one place for printing
Here are the folders where all the EL assessments are housed together in a printable format. These are the same ones that are available to print shop for you before each module. But I thought there may be some people that want to do their own thing with them, so now you have access. As we get closer to module 3, I’ll send out another opportunity to have them print-shopped for you.

Math Curriculum Review Team Update
Your building administrator shared this information with you prior to break, but if you missed it, here it is: The Math Curriculum Review Team has been actively engaged in the curriculum review process since the fall of 2022. We want to take a moment to thank them for their dedication to this important work.

This year, the Math Curriculum Review Team and field testers have been involved in evaluating various math materials as part of the ongoing review process. After field testing a set of materials, STEMScopes, the team determined that it did not meet the criteria established in our rubric. Consequently, information about this program will not be shared at your school. However, if you are interested in exploring STEMScopes on your own, you can access it here. Additionally, you can review the detailed results from both the Math Curriculum Review Team and the field testers.

Looking ahead, we are excited to begin our next field test. Starting in early January, the team will be teaching Experience Math and gathering valuable insights.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Julie Richards, Kerry Morton, or any member of the Math Curriculum Review Team.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding. Julie Richards

Social Emotional & Mental Well-Being

Wayfinder
Wayfinder has some activities that you could use for academic alignment.  Try putting “science” in the search button in activities or if you want to get more specific you could try “schools around the world” and find some activities that match that.  The activity library is always growing so if you don’t find something specific try back.

This document will link EL to lessons that can be taught in Wayfinder.  There are also collections that will give you resources you can use throughout the day or during your community connection time.

Safe and Reliable Research for Students
Looking for a safe and reliable place for students to conduct research? Check out your school’s media center website. On the iPad home screen, tap your school’s icon, tap Academics, then tap Media Center. Scroll to find multiple vetted research databases for student use. World Book is a great place to start, known for its user-friendly, robust resources. Conveniently, World Book is also bookmarked right on the student’s home screen.
