Welcome back! I hope that you were able to rest, recharge and enjoy your time off in July. I will once again be sending weekly notes to you in an attempt to keep you informed. In this week’s notes you will find some important dates to remember, a video on leadership, and a few other necessary announcements/ reminders.
Welcome- For those of you who haven’t heard, Julie Stroinski will be the new vice principal at Bear Creek Elementary. Julie was hired at the end of the school year to replace Joan and is coming to us from Beaverton. Welcome, Julie!
August Horizontal- We will have our August horizontal early this year. It will take place Tuesday, August 7, from 8:00-lunch at High Lakes. Please bring a chair to sit in or a blanket to sit on as we will spend a bit of time outside (weather permitting). In addition, Please RSVP with one sentence about something you did or a place you visited this summer. Please get this to me by Friday, August 3. Only principals and vice principals need to attend this meeting. Student Services are off the hook. AM coffee and lunch will be provided for you…by you…more details that morning.
Teacher Calendar- Please refer to the certified work calendar for questions regarding schedules for back to school for teachers. Remember that certified staff are expected to attend the “welcome back” activity Tuesday afternoon. This is the only district meeting involving certified staff that will be held on Days #185, 186 and 187. It should be considered a half day of inservice time.
Principal Calendar- Please complete your work calendar and return to me before school starts. It is a PDF, so you will need to print, mark, scan and email it back to me. VP’s need to give your calendar to your principal. I don’t need VP calendars. Thank you.
August Meetings/Trainings- In addition to our Tuesday horizontal, please note the following (Mandatory meetings in bold):
- August 8- Leadership Academy– 8:00-3:30- Sunriver- please let Andrea know how many of your ICCLs will be attending if you haven’t already.
- August 9- Safety Day– 8:00-4:00 @ Summit HS
- August 13 & 14- Taking it Up training @ Pacific Crest MS
- August 21 & 22- Innovative Teaching and Learning Conference- Pacific Crest MS
- August 23- Trauma Informed Summit @ Summit HS
- August 27- New Teacher Day- Principals be at Summit HS to introduce new staff.
- August 28- All staff welcome back– Bend SH- 1:00-4:00 PM. Keynote by Chad Hymas.
District SIW’s- I know these dates were distributed earlier, but here is one more reminder of the district SIW’s for elementary this year:
