WELCOME BACK… finally!!
Our classrooms are ready, our campus is ready, our teachers are MORE than ready… are you ready?!?! We are super excited to have students back on campus as we return to hybrid instruction this week.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE LOGISTICS
- Doors open at 9:15AM (and not before unless you have a teacher appointment)
- 1st Period begins at 9:30AM
- Lunch is from 12:35PM – 1:05PM
- Day ends at 3:20PM

- View daily schedule below or download a PDF here.
WHICH DOORS DO I USE? All RHS students who arrive between 9:15AM and 9:35AM will enter through the “RHS DOORS” on the SOUTHEAST corner of the building. At 9:35AM, the east doors will be locked and from 9:35 onwards will remain locked. Students arriving after 9:35 will need to enter through the “Brinson Main Office” doors on the SOUTHWEST corner of the building.
COHORT A or B?:
Monday we start with our A cohort (last name alpha group A-K); Tuesday we will see the B cohort (last name alpha group L-Z). We finalized a limited number of cohort switches as requested by students/parents with transportation or work related scheduling issues.
PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR COHORT by logging into StudentVue and clicking on the Student Info tab. It is extremely important that students only attend classes with their cohort. Distance requirements in classrooms are strict and we have limited classroom desks and tables to the maximum allowable attendance given the size of the classroom.
WHAT TO BRING EACH DAY?
- your fully charged iPad must come to school EVERY DAY!!
- labelled water bottle – our water fountains are closed but our bottle filling stations are open
- earbuds – there will be times students need to access media privately
- pencil(s), pen(s), highlighter(s)
- notebook/sketchbook depending on class requirements
- snack/lunch if needed
Cell phones are NOT ALLOWED in class per RHS policy.
- Keep phones off and away during class.
- A teacher may, at times, allow students to listen to music during class – ON iPad but not phone! (Spotify is in Self Service).
WHAT ABOUT THE ASYNCHRONOUS DAYS?
Clearly this Hybrid schedule is just that, a hybrid of on site and at home learning. During their on site days, students will engage in new instruction and interactive learning that will include a review the upcoming “asynchronous assignment(s)” to be completed prior to their next on site day.
Students can expect to be assigned approximately 1.5 – 2 hours worth of “homework” per class that will be due the following on site day. So, for example…. Cohort A students, who attend school on Monday, will have assignments for all 4 of their academic classes that need to be completed on Tuesday/Wednesday and turned in before their next in person class on Thursday.
All assignments and resources will be posted in Canvas.
EXTRA SUPPORT ON WEDNESDAYS:
Students should plan to attend AT LEAST ONE (or more) of the scheduled Teacher Office Hours on Wednesdays. These Office Hours are critically important time for students to get extra support, ask questions, and even find peers to work with.
LIPI (Limited In Person Instruction) is on hold until Wednesday March 3rd due to the fact that our transportation is not able to guarantee bussing until March 3rd. Stay tuned for details as we get set to resume Wednesday LIPI in March.
You can view the Office Hours Schedule with live WebEx Links and see a screenshot (no live links) below:

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH DETAILS:
First, breakfast, lunch and and end-of-day bagged “supper” are ALL available FREE to all students through the remainder of this school year – WOW!
Breakfast is served between 9:15AM (when doors open) and 9:30AM (when class starts)
Lunch is 12:35 – 1:05.
- Students may eat inside in one of our socially distanced lunch zones located near open fresh air sources. We will have an outdoor eating area also set up
- Open Campus? Juniors and Seniors MAY leave campus for lunch but there are specific COVID related guidelines for “open campus lunch” that must be followed, including a “car pod form” that must be completed and signed for any juniors/seniors planning to share a car at lunch. Open Campus Policy & Car Pod Form.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS IN HEIDI’S CLASSES:
10TH GR CHEMISTRY, ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
If you are currently enrolled on ANY one of the above classes, then there is an IMPORTANT CHANGE to your “At Home – Asynchronous Day” Schedule that you need to know about!!
Please read this letter from Roger and Heidi to understand these important schedule changes!
COVID RELATED UPDATES:
Here are the Realms HS COVID Protocol Slides for students that were shared with Freshmen last week and will be reviewed with all students this week! You can download a PDF of these slides here.
If there is a positive case reported at our school – here is a letter describing the communication you will receive.
And of course, our Ready, Set, Learn booklet describes the details of the necessary protocols to follow after an exposure, or if you are sick. This is the easiest place to go for all the “What If’s”!!
DISTRICT CHANGE TO FRIDAY FEBRUARY 12TH:
Last week the BLSD made the decision to switch Friday February 12th from an On Site Day for B Cohort to a CDL day for all students as MANY teachers have their 2nd does of the vaccine scheduled during the day and there are not enough subs to cover all these classes! So, NO ON SITE classes on Friday Feb 12th.
We will be holding a WebEx-based PROFICIENCY DAY designed for students to get support over WebEx on CATCHING UP on any missing work prior to midterm reports being published!
Details of WebEx support schedules will be sent out by teachers.
MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS – BY 2/16/21:
Believe it or not we are halfway through the trimester 2 already. There are just 6 instructional weeks left between now and Spring Break which is the end of the trimester!
Teachers will be emailing home “midterm progress reports” between Friday Feb 12th and morning of Tuesday Feb 16th. Keep an eye out!
