…and how you can help support more of it!

Working to understand and address climate change!
10th Grade students dig into snowpack analysis, albedo effect experiments and writing connected to their trimester-long climate change expedition called “Frog In The Pot”! Over the course of 2 days, all 48 of our sophomores ventured out to Dutchman Flat at the base of Mount Bachelor to understand how one our planet’s most pressing problems can be seen right here in our own community. More photos here.
Making action sports safer
Juniors in Aaron Seelig’s physics class recently culminated a forces/impacts unit with a “Helmet Design” project. They took their designs to the field to do some real time product testing using Vernier impact sensors. This image overlays the impact data from the probe built into Cooper’s prototype. And don’t worry… it was not all work and no play… students also had the opportunity to try out snow biking on with the help of guides from Cog Wild! More photos here.

From Garden to Kitchen!
9th grader James Humphreys is dedicated to the RHS Garden Club. Here he is preparing soil amendments for our raised beds. Lucky for us, because our new “Pop Up Teaching Kitchen” is a popular place to whip up healthy and delicious meals during Spanish with Yen Ling Wang and during our Culinary Club meetings with Kem Templin! Already, herbs and greens from our garden club are finding their way into our students’ culinary creations!

Prom 2022… in Wonderland!
Our first ever Prom happened this week at Aspen Hall thanks to the tireless efforts of a team of students from Allie Chiavetta’s leadership class, and the commitment of Chiavetta herself to see this 1st ever RHS prom from conception to execution! More photos to come.

and coming soon…

Help Support ACTIVE LEARNING at Realms!
Powerful and engaging learning opportunities like the examples shown above are what we strive for at Realms High School.
This kind of learning requires equipment, transportation, and additional staffing. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Our all volunteer Friends of Realms board is committed to raising enough money every year to support this work. And there are TWO ways you can help!
FIRST: Make Your Annual Fieldwork Contribution!
If 75% of RHS families make the suggested $125 donation, we will be a LONG way to covering the costs of this programming. Of course, you can always contribute more in support of families/students who may not have the means to make a contribution at this time. Click Here to Contribute.
PS – no student will EVER be denied the right to participate… this is a donation, NOT a fee!

SECOND: Buy Your Tickets To Banff Film Festival NOW!
Friends of Realms is proud to co-host the 2022 Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, live at the Tower Theatre, as a fundraiser for Realms Middle and High School on Saturday, April 23rd & Sunday, April, 24th.
HAVE SOMETHING TO DONATE TO OUR RAFFLE??
RMS parent Angela Villebois is coordinating a raffle that will happen during the Banff Film Festival. She is actively looking for worthy items to add to raffle baskets. Do you have gift cards, a nice bottle of wine, a gifte certificate for a massage, or something even bigger that you can donate? If so, please email: [email protected]

Thanks to our corporate sponsors for making this possible!
