This and That:

Spring Conferences 4/12 (From Skip):    We have been talking with Sarah Barclay about the upcoming spring conferences and the importance of making sure your teachers DO NOT start conferences prior to the end of the work day (3:15 for most) on Wednesday the 12th.  The BEA has bargained to have a full workday, and it is important that the day is used as that.  

Code Pink: In case you weren’t at our staff meeting on 3/20, I want to ensure everyone knows about “code pink.” If we have a medical emergency in the building, someone will come over the intercom and announce that we are in a “code pink,” and they will share the location. This means that you should stay away (and keep kids away) from that location, even if it means going outside to get to where you are going. This is to protect the privacy and dignity of the individual and to ensure that paramedics can get to where they are going without obstacles.

IT Help Desk Changes (From Scott McDonald): During Spring Break week (March 27-31), IT will be making some changes to the “electronic” web help desk ticket system (https://bls.fyi/help). The most significant changes will be the category layout for creating new tickets. Our hope is that the enhanced ticket system will be clear and intuitive for everyone.  If you wish to provide any feedback or have questions about the changes, please reach out to our “human” Help Desk at extension 1200.

Parent Volunteers FYI: You no longer need to list your volunteers in a spreadsheet!

Erin’s Law: All classrooms will be teaching the Erin’s Law curriculum during the month of April (Child Abuse Prevention Month). Please let Frank know when you have finished teaching the Erin’s Law curriculum. There is an assurance form that we need to sign for the state confirming that all classrooms have taught the lessons.

Spring Conferences: Please provide Nicole with a copy of your conference schedule. Thank you.

American Fidelity Dependent Verification: In accordance with Oregon Administrative Rule 111-080-0055, the Oregon Educator’s Benefit Board (OEBB) requires employees of Bend-La Pine Schools to complete a dependent eligibility review every 5 years. This review helps to manage overall plan costs and ensure only eligible dependents are covered on the district’s insurance. Bend-La Pine Schools has retained the services of American Fidelity to assist with the review. American Fidelity will be at Elk Meadow on April 19, 20. and 21. All employees need to schedule an appointment to keep dependents on their insurance. Schedule your appointment here.

Spending Due Date: Student body and general fund accounts need to be spent by April 15th (or ask Kelle for permission to spend it after that date). Please see Chris if you aren’t sure how much money you still have in your account(s).
