This and That:

SIW:  This week, grade level teams will have time to collaborate and plan for winter curriculum and instruction. I am not sure if we will be pulling together at 2:30ish yet.

SLGGs: If you haven’t already, please make it a priority to turn in your completed SLGGs to me this week. Additionally, if you chose writing for one of your goals, please be sure to enter your writing data this week (or chat with me.)

After School Dismissal Reminder: This is a reminder that we dismiss students at the end of the day by announcement and NOT the bell.  This provides the ability to release students in a more controlled fashion.  This is ultimately part of our bus supervision system. Please support our process and hold your students until you here the all call for students being picked up or walking/biking home and then again for students riding the bus.

5 Ways to Improve School for Behaviorally Challenging Students: Here is an excellent short read that supports our work around trauma informed practices.https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/16BrAakcUmWwMSzAztPXXwHoeTMMI_ICl

Growth Mindset: Here is a link to some free growth mindset posters for those who would like them.

To Do:

Get back in the Elk Meadow groove.

PBIS Rules Matrix Review:  Coming back from a long break is the right time to review expectations with students.  They have been out of routine and many may not remember what is expected.  Teaching expectations provides reassuring predictability and should result in a reduction of misbehavior.  Reviewing expectations is also an opportunity to reset routines that might have dropped off a little prior to break or could provide an opportunity to start a new routine altogether.  Please plan to go over the contents of our common area rules matrix AND general recess rules Monday,  and to review the rules periodically as we work to reestablish routines this week. Attached is a link to a slide show that breaks the matrix down into 3 logical chunks.  One way to approach the information might be to cover a few slides in the morning, a few prior to lunch recess, and a few prior to the end of the day. The slideshow has a table of contents to help with this approach. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/10BbWX6anM0cKeGpgusSXkk9hyUOzp0Oc5aGqPNeii-o/edit?usp=sharing

Eagle Spirit Assembly:  Eagle Spirit Assembly will be Friday, January 11th at 11:00. Please enter two student names for grade level character trait recognition (generosity) in google doc by end of Wednesday: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IP9AD4z1DCWu3S556IRbqZcmAcNZJe6JZipUJJ1KT_w/edit#gid=708855113.
