Have they found the Yeti yet?

This and That:

Staffing: Not a lot of new information to report here. I still haven’t “officially” seen our staffing allocation for next year, but I have spoken with Gary and it’s looking to be very close to what I anticipated and have been planning for. I had many conversations with individual staff members the week before break and will continue this upcoming week. I am hoping to be able to share an initial staffing plan with everyone in the next week or so.

Fluency Instruction: I HIGHLY recommend this short read about how to teach reading fluency by Tim Shanahan.

Art Inspiration: Here’s a simple and quick drama activity: Have all students scatter about in the room. One student calls out an activity for everyone to start miming, the rest of the group members say (not shout!) “Yes, lets!” and then they start doing the activity. For instance, if someone calls out “Let’s start jogging in place!” the group responds with “Yes, lets!” and everyone starts jogging in place until someone calls out a new activity. Encourage players to only offer one suggestion until they sense that everyone else has had a chance to play. As an alternative, play in a circle, allowing each student a ‘turn.’

PBIS: Let’s review our rules! Our PBIS team will be sending some links to videos and powerpoint presentations you can use to reteach the rules.

To Do:

Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT): A couple of reminders:

  • Remember that students who are on the MCT list provided by Shannon on Monday 4/1 have parent permission to stay for try-outs on Monday. This means that they will come to the gym around 3:00 when an older student comes to their classroom to escort the MCT students from that class.
  • Be sure to re-read, understand, and help support the modified bus dismissal plans for the week. Here is a link.
