Principal’s Hello

Dear Golden Eagle families,

I hope you had a beautiful week with your kids–snow day included!

So far only a few of you have completed the YouthTruth survey. Please do this as soon as you can! We really want a representative sample of responses. This data will help us grow as a school. We can’t grow without you! Here’s the link: http://www.ytsurvey.org/bendfamily24

We have some exciting things on the horizon: a Valentine’s dance and an e-bike and safety assembly. I hope we can make these two (very different) activities meaningful for our students. This is all part of a healthy, well-rounded middle school experience.

Finally, on Monday, February 26, our 8th graders will experience the annual “CTE Fly Up Day,” where they’ll visit their high school and see all the cool career and technical options available. Last year our 8th graders seemed to really enjoy this day.

Have an awesome three-day weekend. I hope, on MLK Day, you and your family can find some service activity to help give back to our community.

Meet Sparrow Bryson

Our waiting is over! We are happy to share that Pacific Crest has been granted Sparrow Bryson by Sparrow Club USA and here is his story.  Soon we will be sharing a video of his story to our students and families. Sometime this weekend, take a few moments to read, share and discuss with your kids how they can help support him and his family over the next several months. Some upcoming PCMS fundraising events include Valentine’s dance, Val-o-Grams sales and Lucky for Bryson Pot of Gold coin collection.

Upcoming Valentine’s Day Dance & Val-O-Grams!

We are continuing our annual February traditions of kindness and fun while raising funds for Sparrow Bryson. We will start off with val-o-gram sales the week of February 5 and ending the week with a dance on Friday, February 9 from 4:00 – 6:00pm. A dedicated email will be sent to you next week packed full of information regarding both of these events.

Holidays and breaks for the 2024-2025 school year

The 2024-2025 school calendar for Bend-La Pine Schools is not yet solidified but we can confirm the dates of holidays and major breaks for next school year:

  • September 2 – Labor Day
  • November 25-29 – Thanksgiving Break
  • November 11 – Veterans Day
  • December 23-January 3 – Winter Break
  • January 20 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • February 17 – Presidents Day
  • March 24-28 – Spring Break
  • May 26 – Memorial Day

Release of the full 2024-2025 school year calendar, including teacher conference dates and other no-school days, is pending completion of contract negotiations with collective bargaining units representing certified and classified employees in the District. As soon as we are able, we will share the new school-year calendar with families in the District.

Tentatively, the first day of school is scheduled for September 4 and the last day of school is scheduled for June 12, 2025. These dates are subject to change.

Vacaciones y descansos para el año escolar 2024-2025

El calendario escolar para el año 2024-2025 de las Escuelas de Bend-La Pine aún no está confirmado, pero podemos confirmar las fechas de las vacaciones y los principales descansos para el próximo año escolar:

  • 2 de septiembre: Día del Trabajo
  • 25-29 de noviembre: Descanso de Acción de Gracias

Spirit Fridays do exist!

Each Friday, students and staff are encouraged to wear PCMS swag or PCMS colors! If you have not done so, this is one of the several times throughout the school year that our PCMS spirit swag store opens to purchase items. Don’t miss out this winter…the deadline to purchase is Sunday, January 21. Swag will be available for pick-up at school by Monday, February 12. Check it out!
