Principal’s Hello
Dear Golden Eagle Families,
Today I sort of have a security and protocol message. To start, your student may tell you that some guy was on campus today. This is true. During third period a man entered the back of our campus and walked through campus toward the dumpster. A teacher spotted him, and admin confronted him and told him it was a closed campus. He left campus immediately, without incident.
We alerted Miller Elementary as well as our School Resource Officer. The man did not have a backpack and did not appear to be interested at all in the students. We think he may’ve been lost or looking for food. Even though he was behind the school, we locked the front door while he was on campus. (All other building doors stay locked during the day.) The entire incident lasted about five minutes.
Our team worked together and communicated clearly. We often talk about “paddling together” as a staff, and this was an example. We also scrutinized the situation overall and identified little ways we could have been even better.
Switching gears: morning drop 0ff. Remember in the winter time when we were outside, directing people to pull all the way forward? (This leaves space for cars behind you and minimizes the traffic jam.) We’ve stopped pulling all the way forward, which, honestly we were expecting. When your student is telling you to drop them off right in front, it’s hard to tell them no–we get it! We work with your students ALL DAY!
If there are cars behind you during morning drop off, let’s please go back to pulling all the way forward. (See the message and video below from Assistant Principal Schmidt.)
Okay–done for today. Thanks for your time and attention, and enjoy your weekend!
Sean
Math Bypass Testing
During the first week of June, sixth and seventh grade students who are interested in bypassing a level of Mathematics instruction will have the opportunity to take a bypass assessment. The bypass assessment is not available for students in 8th grade to bypass high school courses as these courses earn credit toward graduation.
This assessment will evaluate students’ understanding of key concepts in Number and Operations as well as Algebra and Algebraic Thinking, in order to determine whether they have mastered the skills taught in the grade level they wish to skip.
Please complete this Registration Form to let us know you would like your child to take the bypass assessment.
At PCMS, the bypass test will take place on Wednesday, June 4, starting at 9:00 AM . Test results will be shared within a few days, and families will then be guided through the next steps based on the outcome.
Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminder: Let’s Keep It Safe & Smooth!

A few months ago, we shared some important guidance about using our parking lot safely and efficiently during drop-off and pick-up times. While we saw great improvements, we’ve recently noticed a bit of a slide back into some old habits.
To help us all get back on track, we’ve put together a short reminder video. Please take a minute to watch it and help us keep the flow moving and our students safe!
