Principal’s Hello

Dear Golden Eagle Families,

It was quite a day here in the nest! Our three-week fall spirit competition concluded today with our advisory door decorating contest. Below a a few door pics for your enjoyment. Lots of kids wore black and gold or dressed in a costume for the dance this evening, including Count Keating. Speaking of the dance, we had nearly 400 students enjoy music, dancing, food, Bingo and gym activities. Those who donated items and/or volunteered for the many jobs needed for a successful event, we appreciate your support. Thank you!

This week our teachers also continued our work on aligning our curriculum and instruction to our priority standards, a 5-year, district-wide project that culminates in a standards-based instruction, feedback, and assessment system in the fall of 2026. It’s important work that helps us articulate high-leverage learning outcomes and create a more equitable grading system.

One last thing: Please see the link below for our Fill the Nest giving campaign. This is the only time of the year when we ask for financial help. Our goal is to raise $20,000 this year, and so far we’ve only raised about $3,000. This money goes straight back to classrooms to benefit our students and teachers. Anything helps, and thank you for considering!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your families. Enjoy this beautiful fall weather.

Sean

A Message from PCCO: Fill the Nest Giving Campaign

The Pacific Crest Community Organization (PCCO) would like you to know that our annual “Fill Our Nest” Giving Campaign is in full swing. This one-time annual fundraising campaign runs from September 28th thru October 31st 2023. Your donations will support a multitude of enriching activities, events, programs and grants for our students and staff. This year, our goal is to raise $20,000 in financial support from our community. These funds support programs such as school social events, teacher/staff grants, school enrichment clubs, funds/scholarships for field trips, and outdoor school for each grade level. None of these programs would be possible without the support of this fantastic community.

If you have not done so, please consider making a one-time, tax-deductible, financial gift (tax ID# 47-4312566) to the PCCO “Fill Our Nest” Giving Campaign. There are multiple ways to donate. To find our how, please click on the following:

Photo Packets | Online Ordering | Retake Day

  • Pre-ordered Photo Packets: Your student received their pre-order photo packet in advisory yesterday and you should have received it.
  • Post-ordering Photo Packets: For those who did NOT pre-order photo packets, your student was given a brochure in advisory on Thursday with instructions on how to order online, including an individual access key that is required to order online.
  • Retake Day is Thursday, Nov. 2: This day is specifically for students who were NOT photographed on the original photo day (Sep. 27) OR if a parent/guardian prefers to have their student’s photo retaken due to various reasons.
  • Very Important: If you wish to have your student’s photo retaken, your student must return the original photo packet to the photographer on retake day, Thursday, Nov. 2. Without the original packet, your student’s photo will NOT be retaken.

If you have any questions, contact Deb Mullen at [email protected]. If you have questions specifically for Dorian Studios, call (800) 326-3535.

Current Student Clubs

Throughout each school year we encourage students to join one of our many clubs for a sense of belonging while learning and growing with others with similar interests. Clubs round out the middle school experience! Students may suggest a club by completing and following instructions on application form. We will continue to update club offerings as clubs get approved by the principal. All clubs are optional.

Help Reduce Illness Transmission

Seasonal illnesses are back! COVID-19, flu, common cold, strep throat, and RSV are some of the infections diagnosed in fall and winter months. At home and in school, there are ways to protect yourself and others from becoming sick. Click here to find out how.

PCMS Gives Back to our Local Community

Looking for an opportunity, or two, to pass along comfort and joy this holiday season? Once again, our WEB Leaders are partnering with The Giving Plate to provide food and to support the upcoming Giving Plate’s Jingle Christmas. The two giving options begin on Monday, November 6 and end on Friday, December 8.

The first option is a “non-perishable” food drive which serves local residents in Bend. Below is a list of needed items. Donations will be collected at PCMS in the Upper Nest starting Monday, November 6. The grade level that collects the most food items will receive a surprise!

The second option is to donate to the Giving Plate’s Jingle Christmas. The Jingle Store is an annual, free community event where kids can come and “shop” for gifts to give to those they love. Here are some helpful practical shopping tips. There will be a specific collection container for donated gifts in the PCMS Upper Nest starting on Monday, November 6. No need to wrap your gift donations. There will be a wrapping station at the Jingle Christmas event in December.
