Principal’s Hello
Dear Golden Eagle Families,
Thank you to those parents who prompted their student to turn in their missing assignments this week. We wanted all missing work turned in before break.
To see if your student has missing assignments, follow this step-by-step slide deck. You’ll need to do this with your student’s iPad and your cellphone/laptop.
If your student still has missing assignments, please have them turn these in by Monday, March 31. We want all students moving toward the end of the year from a good academic position. We need your support to accomplish this goal.
Otherwise, have a nice break with your family, and see you in a week!
Sean
Bend Food Project Donation Update
We want to give you an update on how much food our students collected a few weeks ago for local families in need by donating food to Bend Food Project. With the 568 pounds of non-perishable food collected we are feeding approximately 25 families of two for one month. So pat yourselves on the back, smile and feel the warmth in your hearts for a job well done!

Important Information: Lockdown Drill
On Thursday, April 10 we will be running our spring lockdown drill at PCMS. All the drills we preform are not only required by Oregon law, but they prepare staff, students and our community on how to respond in the event of an emergency. We take these drills seriously, and we expect our students to take them seriously as well. There is no opt-out option for this drill. 100% of our students and staff will be participating.
The week before, students and staff will receive refresher lessons on protocols regarding a lockdown by watching a Standard Response Protocol video in Advisory. During our drill, Bend Police Department will be on site to support our efforts.
You can find more information about Standard Response Protocol (SRP) in the following guides.
State Testing
State testing at PCMS will begin soon, starting with ELA on April 21, followed by Math and Science. These assessments serve as an important tool to measure students’ mastery of Oregon’s academic standards and help our teachers tailor instruction to better support student learning. While no single test can fully capture a student’s abilities, state assessments provide valuable insights into their academic progress and ensure our school is meeting learning goals for all students. We expect all students to participate in these assessments. However, if you choose to opt your student(s) out of testing, please complete the opt-out form (linked below) and return it to our main office by April 1, 2024. Students who opt out will be provided with an alternative setting and an equally meaningful assessment or enrichment activity, but they will not have access to their iPad during this alternative setting.
Celebrating Success | 2nd Annual 8th Grade STEM Fair
PCMS proudly hosted its 2nd Annual 8th Grade STEM Fair, showcasing an impressive turnout. At the end of February, each student chose a STEM topic to research or build, dedicating four weeks to explore the science and engineering processes behind their projects. The trifolds illustrated their findings and experiences throughout this journey. Students displayed their trifolds for family and friends, highlighting their hard work and creativity. Additionally, students enrolled in Ms. Kraybill’s Advanced Design and Modeling class showcased their talents by displaying their 3D printed logos, adding an exciting dimension to the fair.
Congratulations to all 8th graders for their outstanding efforts! PCMS is excited to continue expanding the STEM Fair in the years to come!

The tournament will be held on April 5th. Please see the attached flyer for more details about BTA Madness and BTA Madness. If there is a team that cannot afford the $75 registration fee, please contact Kelly Peters at [email protected].
