Melinda Brown is the ELL specialist at Elk Meadow Elementary. She uses the quiz builder tool Socrative to manage the large amounts of data that she and the rest of her team gather when working with students. One of the most effective methods she shared recently was the creation of quick pre and post-tests in Socrative. These simple quizzes present the critical academic language needed for success throughout the unit. Although all of the elementary students in the class may benefit from the practice, it is essential information for Melinda’s team and their efforts for individualized instruction. Each week when her team plans together, they are able to quickly look at the data provided for each student, create prompts to assist those who need additional attention, and plan ahead for whatever unit the classroom dives in the future.
